Leaked Qualcomm Roadmap

Qualcomm's 2015 roadmap has potentially been leaked online with information on their unannounced "TS2" core which could be the successor to the Krait architecture. The leaks show that Qualcomm will be using Samsung/GF's 14nm FinFET process later this year for its high end Snapdragon 820 64-bit Octa-Core SoC.

In late 2013, Apple launched its first mobile 64-bit chips in the iPhone's which surprised many of us including Qualcomm who didn't expect such a release until late 2014. This left Qualcomm with the decision to either bring their own 64-bit offering to the table or try and squeeze as much out of the Krait architecture as possible.

The Snapdragon 820 SoC will be released fall 2015 and will be built on the 14nm FinFET process which is similar to Samsung's Exynos chip and Apple's A9 chip. This means we won't be waiting that long for 14nm when you consider the Snapdragon 810 series based on the 20nm process is not available as of yet, although it is to be expected in the upcoming flagship smartphones such as the HTC One M9 in March. So we could be seeing the 810 series in just a couple of months.

You can see Qualcomm's leaked upcoming chips in the image below.
