Power per cubic meter competition ?

Would need to be a competition with a lengthy time period and have, probably, a few manufacturers onboard. Possibly a game publisher too.

Object would not necessarily be the very smallest of builds, but the most powerful gaming computer, who's benches are then divided into the size of the case. (or case volume divided into it)

Not just raw benchies, or a single one, the likes of futuremark, but:
  • cpu test
  • gpu test
  • game loading speed
  • game bench (if a publisher is onboard, their ingame bench would do)
.. then size of the whole thing, case, taken into account. Open to everyone, including mods.

.. the site would have to ratify the rigs .. so would have to somehow see them to qualify.

Couple with that, perhaps, a noise and heat factor ? Or maybe a soak test to be passed.

Onboard sponsors could probably throw in some prizes, I'd imagine.

Name of contest could be wrapped around the 3D nature of the dimensions, I dunno.

Discuss maybe:

I like this idea, seems hard to qualify though. would it have to be like mATX in order to really be in the running for the winner do you think, or would a system in a midi case and standard ATX mobo be better suited.? just seeing where you're at in thinking..

.. standard size ATX, with 3x graphic cards would raise the bar. Then again a mATX with 1 card... in a smaller case ....

Also factors in the ability to get the best from the components.

my thought is maybe dual GPU card in an mATX something like the Maximus V Gene Mobo, 3770K watercooling all components to get a better OC, see where that takes you. Ideas?

physical weight would be good if you were making it mATX, full ATX with triple SLi/CrossFireX would def be at a disadvantage unless it DEMOLISHES the mATX system, but you can get some pretty crazy setups from a smaller form factor rig.
