Linux Proton can match Windows performance in some DirectX games

Far Cry New Dawn never released on Linux, but that's not stopping the game from offering stellar performance.

Read more about Far Cry: New Dawn running with Performance parity with Windows when running on Linux/Proton.

If I could get World of Warcraft to run Same/Better on Linux over Windows, i'd ditch windows Immediately. WoW is the only thing that keeps me on windows.

With your setup, it runs pretty well. No Dx12, but 7700k's single thread oomph results in good performance.

If more big AAA titles and popular titles as well move to Vulkan and supported Linux, I would switch as well. Hopefully Steam can leverage their position to encourage that.

Love Windows personally and some Linux distributions are good, but not as good as Windows imo for 99% of people(including gamers).

I have been running Linux on my primary gaming rig for a while now. I am able to play nearly all of my games without issues. The reason Linux gaming won't take over isn't because devs don't want it or can't implement it. It's because of DRM and anti-cheat. Most games that are not compatible are, in most cases, due to something like Denuvo or EAC preventing it. Publishers are too worried about their IP to not allow DRM, and Steam DRM isn't enough for them.

I don't think it's a DRM issue - it's just a very open platform resulting in a plethora of different setups, all bringing their own possible issues to the mix. Not to mention it's still a fairly niche OS.

DRM and anti-cheat are possible on Linux as well, though Linux users tend to be more tech savvy and aren't as happy to install proprietary anti-cheat to ring 0.

Wow runs more than good on Linux. Sounds like possible isolated issues for you tbh. I had a spike maybe once a week..
