PSUs - Does components matter?

Heya guys,

So I have a question regarding PSUs - Does component choice matter? Ie, I ordered an Super Flower Leadex 750W Titanium PSU and it had quite loud coil whine. When I have my system hooked up to my Corsair HX750i, it’s completely silent.

Now how can this be? The Super Flower should basically be of higher quality overall, so don’t get why it gets coil whine etc?

Anyone that has any more knowledge in this area regarding this?...

Regards,
Dawelio

Make sure the noise is coming from your PSU and not the GPU......

I’m positive, since the PSU wasn’t installed in the case, but rather outside of the case. Hence it was easy to distuinguish it from the rest of the system/components.

It's just plain bad luck. I've been there, more often than I'd like to admit

Have you tried writing to superflower? See if it's something they would replace under warranty given you have a HX as a back up?

It definitely is the luck of the draw sometimes, It'll still be a fantastic power supply. I've had EVGA Classified graphics cards in the past which were supposed to be top of the range then but had ridiculous coil whine

Yup, emailed them about their PSU about a month ago... Nothing so far.

I prefer not to be THAT guy but if it's been that long it may be worth reaching out more publicly on their social channels as well i.e. facebook or twitter to see if it gets a response.

It's a shame because I've heard nothing but great things about superflower products

Yup, I agree... Although in my opinion, you shouldn’t have to go onto social media in order to get a response. That’s literally what the ”Contact” page is for on their site.
Not everyone has or even uses social media, so forcing people to contact them that way is wrong.
