Nice idea and with it being Avermedia that'l be nice to work with.

one question, can it handle 1200p? or is it limited to the 1080p of the cards (one of my most major annoyances with them...)

Would be an interesting thing to try out, I do like recording gameplay from time to time.

Shame I don't have X99 money .

So 1080p @ 30fps I assume? Does it support 720p @ 60fps? Any plans to release it as standalone or implement it on other Gaming series boards? Because it looks like a M.2 slot card, and AverMedia doesn't sell a card like this one at the moment.

I have serious doubt that streaming engine will be anything other than another new fancy tech that actually does nothing, or at least isn't bringing anything useful to the gamer.

Avermedia makes some very good capture cards which also supports h.264 live decoding, but the quality is just terrible. So far no hardware vendor has actually managed to create a h.264 hardware decoder that can produce high quality video live in 1080p or even 720p for that matter. An Intel i7 CPU beats h.264 hardware decoders any time, but of course it takes up a lot of CPU power.

Now that is not to say there could be some really fantastic h.264 hardware decoder out there, that can produce nearly lossless quality live. If there is you sure won't see those embedded on motherboards any time soon.

Its essentially a capture card soldered onto the motherboard.

Its designed to take the strain off the CPU and GPU.

An excellent idea in my books.

A good idea, but it will be available for only people who can afford it.
I will change my current x58 rig to an x99 system but it will cost a bit too much... I hope it will as good as it costs...

Cool idea, but the corny 'Become a famous online gamer with Streaming Engine. #gamingstartshere' wasn't necessary (;
