Intel Core i3 8300 spotted online - Four cores and Eight threads!

Rumours say that i5s will be 6 core processors in the future. But yeah, while 2c/4t is certainly behind 4c/4t, 4c/8t is most of the time equal to 6 cores.

Laptop ones do :p

Laptop i5's have hyper threading if their the u based ones for lower power and they are 2 core 4 threads standard i5 laptops are still 4 core 4 and 4 core 8 thread is still reserved for i7's. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/processors/core/i5-processors.html

The 8th gen i5s are supposed to have six cores and six threads. Maybe Intel knows six physical cores is better, even in multi-threaded tasks, than 4 cores and 8 threads. Or, the i3s will have three cores and six threads. However that would work.

Since I assume DT line i5's will assume the role of lower binned i7's with HT disabled, they will be true 6 core, assuming that a HT core acts as 1/2 a core on average, then QC plus HT is ~= to 6 core. Depending on where that is IRL perf, it would be between i5 and i7 and likely marketed as such.

And we thought intel had too many skus already :D

Am I the only one who didn't understand a clue of what he said here?...
