What should I expect from a 3200+ ?

So far, on air, with the stock AMD cooler, I've got 227FSB.

What could be expected with a Mach II - anyone tried it?

I think you'd get about 250 tops. I can't see any A64 getting past that.

You never know though. I've probably missed an overclock that is bigger anyway

Have a look through this lot. The top scorer in 3D Mark 03 was the AMD 64 3400+ at 220FSB

That's the thing - I realise it's not going to hit the high FSB's - that isnt a problem - I know these chips are excellent, and I think I might have a good one here. They are performers in the benchmarks even at the lowest FSB's. It's the motherboards that currently let them down due to the AGP lock issue. I'm hoping that with the new boards they have resolved this. Roll on the FX53 - I cant wait to get mine.

This is with my Mach I r404a modded unit:

That was where my chip topped out with my Mach I... wud be nice to see how far it would go with a Mach II GT

EDIT: Would probably go alot farther if i'd get off me bum and do the volt mod for the vCore as this Shuttle can only give 1.68v... with 1.75v I reckon this chip could easily hit 2.7-2.8GHz

The top score is bugged score and its not real. 13K is not possible with current hardware.

The real top score is macci's P4 EE ES @ 4.5GHz and a very high clocked R9800XT. The EE ES is the fastest chip in 03 and the A64 FX is the fastest in 01

Back on topic, I think you can get more out that chip Phil. I think it could be the board you've got. I havnt seen good results from that board by anyone else. You should get a AN50R or a K8N-Pro to get that chip overclocked well

You can send it me and i'l try it out for you Anyways when are you planing on getting a FX-53?

Well I'm chatting direct to AMD now to see if they will let me test a socket 940 '53, but really I am hoping for a socket 939 FX53 But I doubt this will happen anytime soon - I'll probably get my hands on one when they bring out the FX54.

I think the next one is a FX 55 @ 2.6GHz but thats about 6 months away for us 'normal' customers.

Soon enough we will see AMD's @ 4GHz and Intel's @ 5.5GHz. What is the world comign to eh? LoL

..but the best thing is.. you will still be able to use these with your phase-change solution - isn't that great!

Hmmm that might be a tad optimistic mate looking at the other A64 overclocks - I'd be happy with 2.6Ghz with my 3200+ and my Mach II. I cant wait to see what the 3dmark will be like. I think the highest I've ever had has been topping out at 23k.

One question, and this is something I intend to test on air as well, what would be better memory for this system, bearing in mind its single channel as well, OCZ Gold 3700 512MB or OCZ 4200 EL DDR 1GB with slightly slacker timings?
