Card is a joke.

Custom water from day one or don't bother.

This is supposed to be an extreme card, not an in between one.

As to the pricing.....

He makes a good living in the German film industry but still, Could get a 2080 Ti FE, Waterblock and quite likely get the same performance minus the garish looks.

I wonder how many of such cards will actually end up doing 'insane OC' - open bench, liquid N2 / sub zero and all that...

Is the user base really big enough to warrant this (and similar cards from other companies) ?

Or do they all end up in 'rich kids' PC's offering a few FPS more and a warm fuzzy feeling for the ~$800 premium?

I guess there is also the possibility that the cards are made as an advertising stunt - never meant to be sold in volumes, but to brand the company as 'badass' for having the most 'insane GPU' of all.

EVGA have released a kingpin version for years. I guess they are just keeping that tradition. I don't see many being sold though. That cost alone is almost the same as 2x 2080ti FE cards.

Would rather buy two and utilise Nvlink whenever available than a premium high end designed for LN2

Bit of a waste of time as I suspect Kingpin has already cherry picked the very best cards for himself.

If he wants to spend that sort of money he could get an RTX Titan add a water block and custom bios. Everything else being equal it will be faster than the Kingpin cards.

The only reason you don't see Kingpin benching Titan cards is because EVGA don't sell them. Having said that he had to use the Titan V after it totally demolished his 1080 Ti cards everywhere.

The card does give you a 525W power envelope which is 150W higher then the FE versions - the highest power draw I have seen from my Gigabyte 2080 ti Gaming OC was 373.5W and was hitting the PWR and maximum reliable voltage limit. The question is, can you unlock the voltage so you can actually clock the card high enough to use that extra power.
