As other have said, for 5Ghz on prime that really isn't that bad.

For gaming in most situations a CPU clockspeed no where near 5.0ghz is fine.

When gaming I hardly ever use more than 4.0ghz and that is sometimes with up to 4 GPUs.

Pretty sure for the last few years now, they have proven that there is no gain for gaming over 4.4ghz.

Could change in the future, but I have never seen a boost more than 3 or 4 fps which to me is not worth it given the power the cpu will guzzle.

^ That is 100% dependent on the game. CS:GO benefits near linearly from clock speed, and scales well with memory speed as well.

Yes and no, even CPU intensive games such as WoW, I saw zero gain going above 4.4ghz. And that includes the introduction to Dx12. Obviously the statement is on its last stand now, we are going above 4 Cores, but until now it stood true. There will always be exceptions of course such as CS GO which is extreeeeemely old. The majority of titles however fall under that category of little/no gain over 4.4.

I mean I could use Syndicate wars as an example to counter myself where using a cpu today would speed the game up so fast it is nigh on impossible to play.

Wasnt Deus Ex Mankind divided also a good representation? There is one benchmark used for a considerably amount of time which verified it.
