too bad not here.

cheapest RTX 3070 that is available and i can buy today is 804 euro. by coincidence it is a suprim.
that´s fair i guess.

not that i would want to buy a 8GB RTX 3070.. but 3080 looks even worse.
but good to hear UK gets a lot of RTX 3xxx series in stock.

if it is shipping issues there should be a ton of cards on containerships and in warehouses?

but i doubt that shipping issues are really the problem.

i have bought stuff on ebay the last months that ships from china and it arrived in time.

It's the shipping. Covid has taken its toll, and shipping is the biggest issue. You can't compare several containers to something you bought on Ebay that goes into a postman's sack, then probably on a plane, then your postman brings it to you. The whole logistics of shipping right now is a nightmare.

This is why I bought my computer as soon as I knew this stuff was happening (March). As it stands? I couldn't buy it again for the same price some 10 months later.

Because of all of the hoops shipping companies are now having to jump through and less shipments going the price has gone up. And that is without even going back to supply, which again will suffer when something like this is going on.

the delivery needed 28+ days, i doubt that it shipped per airmail.

i don´t say shipping did not take a hit.

but imo it is more likely that production at TSMC and samsung is the root problem.

that may be related to shipping products too these companys.

cards do arrive at resellers but the numbers are ridiculously low.
if it is just shippment, the situation in asia has to be much better, not?

the word from nivida is also that they are not able to produce enough cards.

that there are enough cards out there but they are stuck in some shipping queue is something i find hard to believe.

crypto-mining, shipping, production issues, high demand.
no idea what has the biggest influence.

one thing is sure.... the MSRP for CPU/GPU products at the moment is a sad joke.

It's shipping, most of the cards are made in china and even when things are normal they have to pay extra fees just to get it out of customs quicker in a situation like this it'd only be worse, add to that a lot of big companies are going broke look into cruise ships being scrapped that are only a few years old and it's not just them kind of ships going belly up.

Apple brought most all the air freight made deals so even getting it on a plane is a hard thing atm, it is what it is and it won't get better for a long while yet, hence why companies are selling direct to miners cause most likely they can't move them anyways.

well i am no shipping expert i am an engineer.

but all i read is that demand for shipping has declining in 2020.

again... if you say that shipping problems affects MAKING these cards, the production... ok.
but that the finished product can not reach america/europe .. i don´t get it.

Many shipments can be forced into a quarantine period. Now given the lack of space, you couldnt ship every container globally to the UK and they have space for them all. This sets a backlog. Meaning a large amount of containers waiting to be shipped in the home country, or warehouses flooded with products they cannot ship yet. That and also many other reasons that we don't think of.

the Music store I purchase from is still waiting for a shipment they state is stuck in china. Its packed in a container but has not left the country in 3months. Throw this in with the quarantine period, AND the fact that rosewood is on the endangered species list, I wont see my new guitar for a while.
