AMD premiere stock CPU coolers are now even better - Upgraded Wraith Prism design dis

Six instead of four very nice and way better than the rubbish Intel give you if they give you one.
As far as i know only with the non k cpu's these days?? Intel been so greedy, they can't even be bothered to offer a mainstream cooling solutions.

This looks decent tho for a stock cooler.

They should stop wasting material, and not include cooler at all. Drop price for $20-30 so the people could buy Hyper 212 which is 11x better than the stock cooler.

The CM Hyper 212 performs essentially identically to the old (Cooler Master designed & manufactured) AMD Wraith and with a more intrusive form factor so I don't think that really holds water. Though I don't think most models come with these anyway.

Mainstream users want products that work out of the box pretty much. They dont want to buy a CPU and then be stuck navigating the market of coolers we have now.

The stock AMD coolers work very well for what they are cooling.

I cooled a 1700x with the stock cooler from a 1300x, yeah it was a little toasty for my liking which is why I put a NH-D15 on it, but that stock AMD cooler was not designed for the 1700x.

The problem with Intel not putting a cooler in the box is that because the stock Intel coolers would not be able to cool the stupidly hot CPU's when they hit 50% and above usage, people would be able to claim the included cooler was not up to scratch and if the cpu died Intel would have to replace it and admit it was due to heat.

Even a H100i struggled to cool a 4790K and 7700K without de-lidding them, and look at the heat of the 9900K, there is no way the normal Intel stock cooler would cool them.

The fact that AMD are upgrading the stock coolers, should mean that for 99% of users there will be no need to purchase an aftermarket cooler, thus allowing them to spend extra money on something else, like maybe a better motherboard with better power circuitry allowing the cpu to run better because of cleaner power.

Well AMD has apparently told PCGamer the following:
It has come to our attention that third-party coolers using six heat pipes that are designed to look like an official AMD Wraith Prism solution, including the illegitimate use of AMD branding, are now entering the market. Please be aware that those solutions are not genuine AMD products and have not been tested and validated by AMD to meet our build quality and performance requirements. We are actively investigating the source of these products and will take necessary actions to enforce our rights to ensure users receive genuine AMD products. If you have any questions about the origin of a cooler, please verify the solution here.

Well this is interesting to say the least. What do they hope to gain? They all ship with the cooler, it's not like they could sneak them into the box during packaging. They'd have to sell them and it wouldn't sell much...

Yeah, the only real use case is for APUs or Ryzen 5 SKUs. It's very odd. Between the trademark infringement and lack of a meaningful market (it's not like Intel CPUs can use these), I find it odd that this even exists.

Yes, they perform well in the graph, but Wraith sounds like a jet engine when compared to 212.

I'd suspect a possible proof of concept? Show how much better these are than the normal Wraith in the hopes AMD will adopt the design?

Either that or they're getting made for the Chinese market, who knows
