Microsoft releases official Windows 11 Preview ISO Images

With that dumb interface? Absolutely not.

If I want a secure and trustworthy OS that looks like that.....I will buy an iMac instead.

What exactly is meant by this? ... Is there something I have missed regarding Windows 11?.

Mac OS equipped machines you generally cannot upgrade the hardware but the OS is very secure, A Linux based machine is basically as secure but you can upgrade the hardware.

Ah okay I see… Now I see what you folks were on about, cheers!

I'm a little confused where exactly did it say you couldn't upgrade your hardware with Windows 11? You can upgrade your hardware with 10.

I never said that, I was referring to an apple machine not being able to be upgraded but a Linux one can as generally everything inside a mac is soldered to the board but Linux can be installed on anything.

Really makes no sense people keep complaining about the interface. It's literally only for tablet mode. You can change it. People even talked about it when the initial ISO file was leaked. People just hop on the train. They could have changed it but wouldn't make sense to.

My Bad Sorry and I get what you're saying now. :blushing2:

People don't tend to set up their Linux securely, signing your boot loader is a bit of a paint for instance, yet MacBooks have Secure Boot out of the box.

At least encryption setup is trivial with most distros nowadays.

Linux is secure because nobody bothers to write Malware for 1-2% of the market. :D

With all the "i go Linux" talk on the Internet for decades, i can only wonder that Linux marktshare is still way under 3% (last number i have seen for October 2020 was 1.71%). ^_^

I am no Linux hater. I use it for special purpose systems.

But to be honest i would never switch to it for my mainsystem.

Yeah first thing i did when windows 10 came out and was installed, is look for a program to change the start menu back to something i been used to since forever, it didnt took me long to find that and been using it ever since, and i plan to do the same on w11 when eventually i upgrade to it.

Some of the win 10 programs already work to an extent on 11 though need a little work in placement.

after installing it my first annoyance was the start menu not being able to group apps together, you can pin anything there but all you end up with is a list of apps which could end up in a couple of pages.

The start menu can be moved to the left, the row of icons on the taskbar can all be removed, it took me all of about 2 minutes to get the desktop back to 10 accept for the start menu groups

Just looking at marketshare of desktop Linux is misleading, plenty of high value targets run Linux in some form. Exploits found in servers can be taken advantage of on desktops, and even some Android vulnerabilities could carry over.

Also, with focus on user choice and freedom, people often choose convenience over security.
