Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti FE Review

Nvidia really, REALLY offended a lot of the market with these cards, it is a overpriced abomination that isnt worth the silicon during a god awful shortage, yes i know these are here because these gpu's don't make the cut to be a 3090 but then just put them on a 3080 board and sell them instead of putting them on a huge markup for a pathetic performance increase and a bit more memory. Shame on Nvidia.

An overpriced abomination

Unfortunately NVIDIA has the consumer or deep pocketed enthusiasts by the balls! Along with all of the other GPU manufacturers proffering their own better looking and said more powerful (tweaked) cards. Mass USA 30-series availability is being said to come later this month but stores will nevertheless be selling out very quickly. Best Buys said: "Come early...stay in line outside...and before we are actually open...and we give you a number. So by the time you are pushed into the store by the exited and salawating crowd your NVIDIA $1,300 purchase is reserved and waiting." I work for Walmart on the third shift driving a forklift. We have these type of customers too, but they will stay inline for a mere $5-$10 savings. Two different world's and two very different realities.

The time is now! Here we go "BEST BUY" by the numbers. People with cash staying in line with dreams of 3080 Ti's. Maybe I should come very early and get a reserved number and sell it on the spot for $50 to the deep pockets?

What does the 3080 Ti give you compared to the 3080

2GB extra VRAM which will cost you £400 more.

Other than that the 3080 and 3080 Ti use the same GA102 (3090 failed) chip, Cooler and near enough everything else.

I haven't seen a single positive review thus far. I think even Nvidia must know they have stepped outside the bounds of absurdity too far. They even tried to 'explain' to GN why the 3080Ti's pricing makes sense by saying that it's faster than a 6900XT. It's like a child trying to legitimately explain to a teacher that he shoved a kid down the toilet because the kid farted.

I don't get the frustration in today's market, it's closer to a 3090 than 3080 and the halved VRAM means it'll be easier to stock on shelves than 3090. It also obsoletes 6900 XT, though that product never made much sense anyway.

Top of the line GPUs are always deep into diminishing returns anyway when it comes to price to performance.

I don't think it does. I mean, it's kind of pointless me saying this in the current market so feel free to take what I say with a grain of salt, but the 3080Ti actually makes the 6900XT a BETTER buy for anyone gaming on a 144-240Hz 1440p monitor, which is a lot of people. If you play BF competitively for instance, a 6900XT would be a better choice. It's theoretically cheaper, draws less power, and performs better in that game (as well as others) at that resolution. The little hole that the 6900XT sits in has actually been widened by the 3080Ti, at least in my opinion. If the 3080Ti was $1000 like I thought it was going to be, the 6900XT's little pocket of usability would diminish. The 3080Ti would perform on average slightly better, have more room for growth at higher resolutions, and have DLSS and superior DXR. That would be worth it even if you wanted a more efficient GPU and had a 240Hz/1440p panel.
