I think they already are involved as if I recall they actually do own the rights for the franchise when it comes to everything except books and print. They probably just involved Andrzej in the process as a gesture of good will. I mean why wouldn't they, looking at the success of GoT and George R.R. Martin's involvement.

Yeah CDPR is involved because they own all the rights to it. But it's probably only for certain things and it would mostly be the writers I'd say.

Can't wait to watch this. I'm currently about halfway through the 2nd book out of like 8 I think.

I know back in the day they made a movie on it in Poland. Was terrible, like really bad, but I don't know about any current TV shows on it

Well even if its made by Netflix, lets hope they give a good budget on CGI and effects otherwise I'll find myself disappointed much like many of the "netflix original" shows they have on there.

Just hope it's not to much CGI. Don't want something like a Micheal Bay movie ^_^

Don't think thats even possible in a Witcher environment. Best outcome would be LoTR type scenarios..
...
....
Which of course would be f***** epic. Foltest battles and trolls etc.

Not sure why people keep saying that CDprojekt red has all the rights to The Witcher series (with the exception of the books etc.) because all it seems to be is that they have the game rights to The Witcher series.

OMG my imagination is going crazy with you saying that. Perfect example dude. Even though about half if LOTR is CGI, it's how they implemented it that made it seem real. I doubt they'll do the same for a small budget Netflix film. But my imagination can run crazy anyway:)

Because the original author sold everything to them. Instead of taking a loss of ownership of probably half, he didn't think it would be successful in terms of money. So he took a lump sum. He's pretty upset with himself in hindsight not taking a loss of part ownership and earning money overtime...
They don't have rights over the books. But they have rights to everything else.

well as far as tv series budgets go, Game of thrones did very well in terms of mass scale battles, casting, CGI etc. I think they had the perfect blend. Witcher allows the same amount of imagination to create something spectacular.

Have to say I prefer when they do monsters partially as puppets and then complete it with post CGI effects. Looks much more natural. But I think in this case beggars can't be choosers.

puppets? you mean people covered in sensors? if so yes, thats how it was done with LoTR and the Hobbit trilogy.

This will obviously have comparisons to Game of Thrones, but I hope they keep the series centered around Geralt and don't step outside the boundaries too far. Game of Thrones was just expansive and impersonal.

LOTR monsters we're basically all CGI. Only gollum was motion captured but even then half of his performance is all CGI. Not sure about hobbit. But I gaurentee it was way more CGI.

Hobbit used motion sensors (not for everything). Smaug for example you can see on youtube was done by Benedict Cumberbatch himself. Pretty impressive to watch.
