Arrow Intel Releases New Haswell Refreshers - No Unlocked Version

So, with Intel releasing their refresher CPUs whos upgrading and who is waiting for Broadwell? Personally, I will be holding out for Broadwell as in my eyes, 100mhz is not worth the upgrade at all!.

Quote:
Its being reported that Intel have started selling their Haswell stepping which will feature 17 New mobile variants and 27 new desktop processors ranging from the new high-end Core i7-4790 clocking in at 3.6ghz to less power-hungry version, the 65W TPD 4790s .

No unlocked version?

Seems strange they would do that, especially when they released this and make a deal about the better TIM and thermals for better overclocking.

Devil's canyon isn't part of that generation i guess.
It does make sense in a way, it isn't a full refresh, it's just a small update and most people don't overclock their CPUs. Maybe they will even go into a direction where overclocking CPUs and mainstream CPUs are two seperate lines, that would be beneficial for both sides.

This is what happens when a company is not challenged by competition. Intel are not stupid and will not release any new generation cpus until AMD has done so or is in the very near future.

Its just a way to get money out of people before throwing up a huge marketing campaign for the unlocked / broadwells..

Think about apple with the 4s

Yeah, I got this release of CPUs mixed up with Devils Canyon, which is why I thought it strange there was no unlocked part
Just did some checking and it looks like Devils Canyon is coming sometime this Summer.

EDIT: apparently 8 weeks according to TTL above

Its a PITA for reviewers, I do think it should all be together but they ARE coming. This way the non K stuff gets some air time before all the website start shouting about the overclocking stuff.

If it cant reach 5GHZ easy on air with the new top end Core i7 4790K and get at least 20% performance boost then I shall stay with my 4770K until we see a real performance boost.
