UPDATE: Sorry for double post but good news, I emailed Amazon the pictures along side my return application and they offered a full refund since they've had trouble with that distributor due to several PC parts returning to them so looks like I dodged that bullet luckily. got sorted pretty darn quick really.

Guaranteed that the socket area is probably one of the most scrutinized areas before it leaves the factory. I mean, I'm not saying it's impossible - but gee, that'd be rare.
Do you have a link to the Amazon sales page, I'd like to have a look. Something seems fishy about this.

Yeah I know iI just jumped the gun there, its my first gigabyte product so i didnt know who it was aha, and I'd like to post you a link to the seller but it looks like amazon have done away with them, don't know if it was down to my problem or another incident.
