External HDDs

Hello

I'm getting a 3TB external HDD soon, and every one I look at customer reviews for has so many people moaning about them failing, or being loud.

I'm looking in the £100 ballpark, and it needs to be quiet, reliable, and to some extent, nice looking.

This is my favourite I've seen so far:

but the number of bad reviews are putting me off a bit. Has anybody used this one, or can you recommend another good one?

Can you get SATA<->USB adaptors or something, because some of the things I may be connecting to do not (I believe) have an external SATA port
