Well it is basically just an 8 core version of the 8700K, Zero architectural changes so any mobo with decent VRM's should handle it just fine, The only reason it wouldn't is if Intel go their usual anti consumer route and lock Z370 owners out to make more money from their Z390 chipset which is just Z370 with more USB etc...

I can't se how it can be a surprise. As normally they work on 2 generations of chipsets, and there is a difference in pinout on z370 vs Z270, to make it ready for more core.

But Intel still win, as it's just the same cpu +2 cores = low development cost.

BIOS tools have revealed that Z370 boards already have a setting for 8-cores.

Yep, Intel has pretty much confirmed Z370 is being re-branded as Z390, So everything is the same, Just a name change, Meaning 8 core coffee lake chips should work fine in existing Z370 mobos -
