AMD's RDNA 2 graphics cards reportedly contain more features than its console variant

I hope AMD changes their course with GPU drivers and take their time to offer a very polished product concerning bugs, monitor HDR support, FreeSync...

I would be surprised if the RDNA2 we see for desktop ISN'T different in a lot of good ways compared to the console. They could hardly charge €700 for a just GPU that is in a €500 console that has nothing more than a clock speed boost.

Well MS and Sony would have guaranteed contracts to sell or at least pay x amount of money regardless of how many sold so AMD would still turn a profit.

Not really surprised, The SOC only has so much room, I'd expect the fully fledged GPU to be more powerful with more features.

I would imagine it will be significantly larger tbh. The die, like.

I remember Cerny mentioning something of a similar layout will likely launch on PC around the same time, and trying to differentiate the PS4 silicon from it, so I'd guess a 36CU part is coming to replace the 5700XT, but yeah they'd also need something outclassing the 52(?) CU part in the XsX so I'd guess there's a monster ~64CU part coming too.

Yeah. There have been rumours of a "2080Ti killer" coming from AMD. I guess that's the fatty then.

That's true, but what I mean to say is, if AMD wants to sell a €700 GPU to desktop users, it has to offer more than what the consoles offer.

It's already kinda common knowledge that the top end will be 80CU part.

Where's this from? I've heard it pushed around but 80CU's seems to be monstrous overkill, in theory they could get 50% performance over a 2080Ti at 64CU's if RDNA2's gains are as previously stated.

Edit: Actually, I guess it would be a CDNA part? That makes a lot more sense, a V100 style chip.

I've heard it a fair few times, YT peeps like AdoredTV and such but enough to feel it's solid enough general opinion that it could be the case, time will tell really but I do feel that nvidia should be concerned generally.

I personally don't feel amd's aim is to outdo the 2080ti but to outdo the 3080ti, it is after all in house refered to as the nvidia killer.

yea Idk if it would be cdna or rdna but the 80CU has been talked about a lot
