My Niece Elora's new Rig "Dragon Heart"

Hey all!

My sister and I couldn't rework my Niece Alex's computer without doing something for my other Niece Elora. Truth be told her machine was in a little worse shape than my other niece so she needed a completely new (well... donated parts new ) machine.

Elora's previous specs:

Motherboard: ASUS M2R32-MVP AM2+/AM2 AMD 580X CrossFire ATX
CPU:AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ Windsor 2.8GHz Socket AM2 89W Dual-Core
Memory: CORSAIR XMS2 4GB 4 x 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800
GPU: SAPPHIRE Radeon X1950PRO 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16
Case: Good God what is this thing!?!
PSU: Antec 650W (which makes a terrible squeal when in use)

As before with Alex's computer it needed to be able to play newer pc games, be very reliable and unique. Most of all this had to be done on a tight budget. So my sister provided a new budget case and one of my good friends Taylor was happy to chip in and help me out with some of his old parts (fortunately he upgrades all the time so they were pretty new ).

One of the very difficult things about building this machine was that when I got the motherboard from my friend there was no heat sink mounting bracket or back plate. After doing some research I found out the board didn't have a back plate. So I had to fabricate a mounting solution from her old board. I cut down the old AMD mounting bracket to fit and with some rubber stoppers strategically place on the back plate, I was able to avoid crushing components on the back of the motherboard.

The new system specs are as follows.

Case: SilverStone Precision series PS08W White Micro ATX
Motherboard: ASRock FM2A75M-ITX R1.0 FM2 AMD A75
CPU: AMD A10 5800k
Memory:G.SKILL Ares 8GB 2 x 4G 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
GPU: DIAMOND Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB 256-bit
Hard drives: 2x WD Blue 250GB, Hitachi 200GB
PSU: Rosewill CAPSTONE-450-M 450W 80 PLUS GOLD

The results. Enjoy

I like the personal touch that you paint logos on the front

I think airbrushing always looks epic. If done right, that is. This is definitely done right

I agree on the 'unique' bit. Especially when using popular cases I always want to do something to it that makes it 'mine' and not 'just another'

I've only been doing it for a few months but I feel like I'm getting better. I always really appreciate the feedback.

Agreed. I see so many builds that look almost the same. Customization is key. Even small changes make a world of difference.

Lol! No problem! I think your shipping might be a little much though.
