8700K Delid Temps ?

So silly me I didn't really do many benchmarks to record CPU temps before delidding, So I'd just like other 8700K owners input that have used OCCT please.

I set the clocks to 4.80GHz and left the volts on auto which sees volts jump up to a max of 1.31v when the CPU is under load, I'll do some fine tuning when I'm not bogged down with work, For the moment it's purely for testing purposes.

I let each test run for 30 minutes and ambient temps were around the 20'c mark.

OCCT Small Data Set

Average temp of 58'c

OCCT Large Data Set

Average temp of 51'c

OCCT Linpack AVX/64Bit/All Logical Cores

Average temp of 57'c

Well it's better than my i7 7700K which hits 70C on water. I did think about getting it delid, but never got around to it. I think those temperatures you're getting are really good though

The temp in the room is also important to know.
If you have 25c then the temp is really good. If you are in a bacement and the room temp is 15, the Temps are just okay

But below 60c with 1,31v is really good. Especially if you are in a 22c+ room.

But auto volts are crap. If you are lucky, you can hit 5,0ghz around those volts. The 1,300v - 1,360v area.

Ambient temps were 20'c at the time of testing so fairly warm

I was only doing it for testing purposes to see how high of an OC I could get on auto volts and auto so far pushes up to 1.31v at it's peak which is good for a stable 4.80GHz, 5GHz needs manual volts at 1.34v.

Gonna play around with adaptive volts when I get the time

im impressed it didnt push towards 1.4V though. Isn't that the usual target on auto with previous iterations?

but anyway. This is why I will always delid where possible. its now hassle free and allows you to drop temps nicely.

I'm waiting on my Naked CPU after pledging a chunk of cash. Will be nice to do away with the IHS totally on my 7700k just like my days of old with the 3570k.

Temp difference without the IHS were just amazing.

13C idle and 38 at load in even the most taxing cpu intensive games.

Question, How detrimental is having manual volts compared to adaptive to CPU longevity ?

It depends on which SVID Behaviour setting you have it i.e worst case/best case scenario, Worst case pushes the auto volts up to around 1.4 and on best case it never goes beyond 1.31 on auto.

Naked die cooling would be nice but I'm happy with my current temps
