All Geforce RTX 30 series graphics card can now support Resizable BAR, though this hardware feature will require firmware updates for most RTX 30 series graphics cards to function.
What does this mean? That the driver will activate it or that an GPU needs like an BIOS update?...
It's exactly what it says.
You need to flash the BIOS supplied by the AIBs. I did my gaming x trio 3080 this morning, takes like 6 seconds.
Not as bad as you might think, since a functional GPU isn't required for successful booting and if the process fails you can retry, as long as you don't reboot. You can also back up the current vbios with nvflash, so restoring that is also a possibility.Flashing your GPUs BIOS? That sounds scary, since the high risk of bricking your expensive and very difficult to get graphics card.
Which is? Just Nvidia’s new driver or an BIOS update?... As firmware to me sounds as both an driver and BIOS update. Since they are both ”firmware”.
A driver is not firmware, It is software.
Both the motherboard and the GPU have to be updated to the latest firmware, After that comes the GPU driver.
Come on dude it's really not difficult to understand, You aren't new to PC's![]()
Doesn’t mean I know everything PC related and software, firmware, networking etc is not my strong side at all, quite the opposite.
A car mechanic isn’t new to cars, but can still mess something up.
Basically assuming a regular knows everything and basically calling them out dumb, in a nicer way, is what has been dragging this forum down lately in my opinion.
Even if you might think someone might, or even should, know something, but might not fully understand it, wether it being language difficulties, just being confused at the moment or whatever, why not just try to explain it to them? Instead of perhaps making them feel dumb and hence hurt their self esteem and/or feelings for that matter.
Anywho, I’m off this thread.
