I wonder if it will have that cloud powered destruction or if they scrapped it for a more basic physics engine.

I don't think any game has used the cloud for physics calculations? The latency would be to high. Doing it for lightning has been done before afaik. Though I could be wrong but I would assume latency would be to high.

MS touted it as one of the big features of the game a few years back when destroying whole sky scrapers.

Server-side physics in itself is nothing new or unheard of, many large multiplayer games that use a client-server model will use a combination of client side and server side calculations to a degree. Latency can be an issue, but this approach generally solves more issues than it causes(It's the basis of a lot of basic anti-cheat measures) and those it does cause can be mostly hidden with client side tricks. Crackdown 3 is set to take that up a notch by having the multiplayer servers have large amounts of additional processing power dedicated to physics calculations.

Huh, higher Dx feature level for lower specs.

I guess it has to do with the lower overhead.

Oh interesting. I don't remember seeing that.

I know EA uses it for there sport games. To speed up loading times and whatnot as it can offload the random generators to the servers.
