This 3D Printed Case brings DIY NAS building to a new level

I see a number of us have 3D printers now. We should make a thread and share things we created, remixed or downloaded.

Might be something you created of use to me and vice versa. Or present ideas.

I'm working on some mods for the 1000D at the moment.

This case though is really impressive. I like the possibilities.

That's a great idea. we should start that. I wanted to build this, but my printer isn't wide enough. Needs an extra 2cm..

There was talk about mods to extend and ender 3 printing diameter. Or perhaps it was a new extruder... let me try to find it for you.

Lately ive been making someone very happy by printing some pokemon that are hard to get. Also had to make a spool holder for my 3kg PLA... underestmated the size of the spool. Made on on rollers for it.

At stock the base is 220mm x 220mm, but the base actually supports 235mmx235mm if you upgrade the firmware. Still not large enough.

Yeah, 1KG of PLA can last for ages. I have three KG spools and I haven't used one yet. That said, I have been using all three colours.

I still need to start those PC mods that I have planned. Making some D&D models to test slicer settings ATM.

Which slicer do you use?

I tried the creality slicer but found it was no comparison compared to ultimaker cura, really liked the way tyou can auto create supports and even change infill patterns on that one.

I started with Cura. I've found it to be very versatile. Have been making some 3D miniatures for D&D lately as a test. Supports can be challenging.

Ultimaker cura is very good at generating supports though if you set it to touching bed, and then look at the preview

It's just that they are hard to remove sometimes and it that it sometimes doesn't generate supports where you need it. You need to be careful when making minis.

You shouldn't have told me about this. Now I want one.
If you want to do some big prints, it looks sweet. Michael from the Teaching Tech YT channel just did a video on it. He said good things about it, and that man is very thorough.

It messes up my dual-z axis mod, so that will keep me from buying this right now. I also can't justify the expense ATM.

Yeah, I read it and must have completely forgotten, because old, LOL! Did the dual Z make a big difference for you? That's not a common mod it seems.

Don't need to level the bed as much. It stabilises the gantry. and keeps things level.

i have three 3d printers and i print mostly PLA, PETG and ABS.

i print my own 3D models and i model and print architectural models as a freelancer for two architects.

thought i must say i have no great luck with printing stuff that is "in use".
3D printed stuff breaks/deforms pretty fast.

when i see the HDD cages and holders i doubt they would last long here.
i am also not sure how well the case would withstand the temps.

i have printed stuff, a weather station with wifi camera, that deformed last summer when temps reached 42 degree celsius here. outdoors but not in direct sunlight, in the shade.
