Makes you wonder if the initial model design was intentional and only for the trailer to spark a viral wave of criticism and interest. If it is, seemed it worked well.

I think what worked well was, they didn't start calling their target audience entitled or toxic, instead they took the criticism and made changes.

We've seen other films get a viral wave of criticism, and it kill the film before it's released because of how the criticism was handled

Not seen that happen before, but ouch whoever did that committed career suicide.

Most of the reason it made this much is there's nothing else in theaters. If it launched in Nov it would have flopped. Way to many movies going on to get an audience

True to a point but maybe not all right Birds of prey had no real competition yet didn't exactly fill cinema's. I think Sonic is helped by releasing during school holidays my son enjoys the sonic games and wants to go see the movie

C'mon admit it.. we all loved Sonic back in the day. The mature 14 year old debates of Sonic vs Mario... wow we really discussed that one raw! hah

It was sonic those who sided with Mario were just wrong , joys of having a son is I have an excuse to watch these movies without looking like a manbaby
