since a new rig/cpu ?????

then... it's your cpu not the app

i had exactly the same problem with an i7 last year - it would not unpack any RAR-files... yet they worked fine on other i7's and other cpus in other rigs.

i RMA'd it

Do the checksums match on your end after downloading?

^^^ lol - no stabbing - actually true

to prove my point is valid - try to open the archived file on another machine

Its more likely a bad drive.

Place the RAR files you're having trouble with on a pen drive and try to open them on your machine. If they all open, Andrew was most likely right. If they don't, Dug was most likely right.

No it's not a new rig or cpu... It was working fine until a few weeks ago. Then i started to get afew coorupted rar or zip downloads, and now it's almost all the rar or zip i downloaded that get corrupted. I first thought it was jdownloader, but even by downloading through IE, same problem.

I tried to open the archive on another pc and the filemis still corrupted and cannot decompress. So i have the feeling that the file get corrupted when it is saved on my pc.

I am using a corsair force gt ssd for my boot drive and hybrid ssd/hdd for the storage. Do you think it could be a problem of either one of the disk?

Another thing i noticed during the download is that the speed varies a lot... I usually got around a constant 3-4Mo/s in jdownloader now i get some incredible peak at 80Mo/s for a couple of second and then go down to 500Ko/s and up again... So i wonder if these fluctuations can also be the source of the error!?

Haven't verified the checksums yet...

Thanks for all your inputs!

Well i canot find anything wrong with my pc... Cpu, ram and ssd are all fine and have no problem to unrar/unzip any files that i copy on it. The problem is really linked to the download!

After searching the net i actually found out that a lot of people are having the same issue. There is even a specific thread on microsoft support forum. And what came out from all that readings is that it's apparently a recurrent problem from windows 7 users. Nobody seems to have a definitive fix for it... Microsoft said the problem comes from the router and people should upgrade their router software.. But does not seem to solve the issue for many users anyway...
Still puzzled...

You might be infected with some virus that is corrupting every compressed file you download. Try scanning your PC with an antivirus or anti-spyware.
