3700x or 10700(non-k)
Hi Guys,
I am looking to upgrade my now (very) old 3770k which has been serving me well for the past two years, however seems to be struggling with editing software and some newer gaming titles.
I have already purchased the RAM as I found a great deal (32GB (2x16G Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200MHz Memory) and am looking to purchase a CPU and motherboard up next.
Options are an AMD 3700x with a Gigabyte Gaming X motherboard.
Second option is an Intel 10700 (non-k) with an ASRock Z490 Pro 4.
The intel option is slightly cheaper but I'm not really considering money in this decision.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Malcolm

Get an X570 motherboard and wait a few more weeks, Or possibly a month or 2, Add a little to your funds and get 1 of the new Zen-3 8 core CPU's, The performance difference compared to the CPU's you have listed is worth the very small wait IMO.

I wont mind waiting and adding a couple of euros and get a Zen3, however i am mainly concered with the price of the new cpus, as I can get a new 3700x for less than 300eu, and a 5800x would be minimum of $400. The 5600x is also an option although I'm not sure about a six core for my needs.

From the hearsay there will be a 5700X that will slot inbetween the 5600X and 5800X likely for €50 cheaper than the 5800X, Again totally my opinion bit I'd say it's worth waiting and then getting that or if you have the funds just get the 5800X, If I was buying right now I wouldn't buy Ryzen 3000 or Intel 10th gen, Zen 3 is just looking too good.

Fair enough, I just get a bit too impatient sometimes
Ill go pick up the ram later on today as 150eu for 32gb looks quite tempting, i found the same exact kit for 220eu in another local shop.
Ill wait till next week as sales for zen 3 should go live on 5th november and ill see prices on those. i need to get a bit up to date since i lost touch these couple of years, different priorities i guess

waiting is win win for you. price will drop further on the 3700x as they want to shift EOL stock.

So, reviving this thread.
I have now seen several 5000 series cpu's locally, with the 5600x starting from €485, which is pretty steep if you ask me. 3000 series have also gone slightly up in prices, I'm guessing due to global shortages.
Now here's my dilemma...I just need a cpu and mobo at this point. I have already set my eyes on an MSI x570 which is about €200. Now since I'm an occasional gamer and do some hobbist photo editing, i am finding it hard justyfing a €500 6-core, when I can get a €300 8-core for just a slight loss in performance.
Opinions?

I would pick the 3700x it might not be top notch anymore but it's still a great cpu.

Personally I’d go with the 8 core, since that will benefit you more in multi threaded workloads, should you ever need it. Especially considering games are more and more utliizng higher core counts.
