lol. They really are barking. Just completely and totally barking. Are they even aware of what is going on around them? they've had the rug ripped out from under their feet !
I imagine the 8700K will be able to compete with the R7 1700 in multitasking, but even the 1700 will still be €100 cheaper than the 8700K, with more room to grow and as you said cheaper motherboards.

first leaked tests show the 8700k is a bit faster in multithreading than a ryzen 1700.
but even then the rumored price is a bit too much.

Yup. Let's see how much the cheapest, decent OC board costs for CL. I bet it's much more than £117.

300 for an i5? That used to be the top of the line i7 price. The IPC would have to be nutty for that to be worth it over AMD.

If that price is right at £380... that's too much. I'm not saying the performance isn't there. But I'm not paying that much.
A £20-£30 increase would be a little easier to accept.

Even dropping down to the i5, Probably much better value just going for 7700k over 8600k. 8 threads compared to 6 for similar money.

Here in Straya the 1700x is 150 cheaper than what the 8700 is going to be, so you can get an 8 core and board for the same price. Although to be fair it will be the same price as the 1800x but I wouldn't be surprised if the boards were dearer, still it's a six core vs an eight.

Those prices don't make sense. the 7800x is 350€
At 419€ i'm probably not getting one Not because it's not awesome, just because

That is probably because for mainstream products you always get knobbed because there is no comparison according to companies like Intel. What I mean is they are obviously blissfully unaware that I recently bought a 14c 28t CPU for less than they are going to ask for a 6c 12t.

Which is why I have been running server hardware and CPUs since the late 90s. Because you always get far more and it's always much cheaper.

Well is the leaked specifications are to be believed this CPU offers much higher single-threaded performance out of the box and faster inter-core communications because of the ring bus.

Actually, I think the multi threaded CPU boost clock speed is also higher (4.3 vs 4.0), so it is better in that regard as well.

TBH it is hard to say how much truth is in some of these early prices, though it is likely that things will become clearer soon.

The latest i have seen is 389€, that's just below 3000DKK, that's my psychological barrier for a CPU 2500DKK~335€~300£ would be a lot better

I see 500-600£ to be in range of a lot of "normal" gamers for CPU, MB and RAM.
But then again, +/- 50£ isn't that big of a deal, it's more in my head
