Nvidia's confident that they have enough RTX 3080 Ti GPUs for launch day

No intelligent miner is going to be buying GPUS anytime soon because of the terrible news around EIP 1559 and other algos being little profitable to this point. Also ETH going PoS by end of the year with 640TH of power flooding the crypto minig space searching for something to destroy it's profit almost instantly. so probably they will have enough on launch day.

They won't. Gamer demand is insane. People have the need to buy GPUs above anything for some reason. This shortage will last until next year this time.

Nvidia just playing the PR card.

For that price they can keep it.

The RTX 3080 TI is like my girlfriend. She keeps me coming back for more and needed availability. She is a blond and has attributes which become immediately visible by seeing her walk and talk that talk. She is extremely high maintenance and expensive. The 3080 TI is thought to be just like her and able to playing my fiddle or any of my AAA gaming titles in high and unfailing performance. The first question other men ask me: "Where did you find her?" This was like asking are there more like her and be sure to never give her up? When I first met her she turned my imagination rock hard and I instinctively knew that I was going to be in for ride. When for the first time I laid my eyes on the 3080 TI I got the same loving feeling.

Honestly if I could find one for $1200, I would buy it. It's getting that ridiculous out here. But as we all expected, they're sold out everywhere.

Cheating on your girlfriend are we? :biggrin5:

Even though $1200 is actually worse value compared to the 2080Ti, which was already terrible value?

The only way I can justify my spending of my 2080ti is the fact that it is an absolute monster on the OC and performance, and that I do not need to upgrade for the forseeable future. I probably have another 4 years left on this card as far as keeping up in pace.

Those who purchased a 2080ti only to go and purchase a 3080ti (or attempt to) are on such a wallet destructing loss I just feel sorry for them. Even if you brag you got almost the same money you paid for the 2080ti when you resell (which would be a clear and outright lie to everyone) you still end up at a massive loss given the performance vs price.

If its their prerogative to do so, well its their choice and their money to lose but its these people helping the hardware industry justify charging us these values.

Seeing as how there really aren't any other options right now, yeah. If this were a normal market then no, I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole but since things are the way they are, if I could've caught one of these at Best Buy for $1200, I would've coughed that up in a heartbeat.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm getting to the stage where if my current GPU fails for whatever reason, I won't actually have a replacement to continue operating my system, gaming aside. I'd have to spend a fortune on an old card that's no good for gaming, that just has a display out. That's why I think Zen 4 moving to having an onboard GPU is a good idea for AMD.

In these times, there might be someone on the forums that might have old GPU laying around that might be good hearted enough to send you one, if that situation would ever arise.

I recently offered up one of my old GPUs, an ASUS 1080 Ti Strix to an community member due to theirs died. They thanked me for the offer but rather see me sell it for a penny.

This is one of the few times I'm kind of a glad I'm a GPU hoarder. I've still got all my old GPU's and my MSI 290X Lightning could easily keep me going if my 2070 ever died. And that's another reason I stayed with 1080 instead of moving up to 1440 lol....that way I could still get decent gaming performance even with an older card.
