Nvidia's CMP HX series of mining processors are coming - Here are the specs

Is this series mostly Turing?

Good write-up as always. Many other people are saying these are all Ampere chips.

Still eats into supply. Considering all the fabs are at max capacity if they make these then that means less Ampere being made.

Otherwise outside of these weird times, then no it wouldn't affect Ampere.

Of course Nvidia saying they're repurposing damaged silicon is meant to please the gamers. But I read it as "identical to current GPU's, only slightly defective GPU's will be used minus HDMI sockets". So no 3050 then?

And what about the memory chips?

What about last gen, they can re-release them in this slightly reduced form. Do they have old stock, of course they do for returns, but can they really restart production of these as well?

It sounds to me that the only real difference is the removal of the display output.

It sounds like this and the "software lock to prevent mining" is all lip-service. It looks like Nvidia are trying to help gamer, but the reality is that Nvidia are branching to crypto mining.
