DDR4 or All RAM in General!

I noticed that many motherboard manufacturers state in their support area a QVL list of compatible RAM used for a particular motherboard you may be interested in. My question is, do I have to choose one of those memory that is on the list to work with my motherboard or can any other RAM that's not on that list work.

And if it's not on the list, will I have BSOD's and other crashes. The RAM on the list, were they tested to be used with that motherboard with no possible errors if used compared to non tested memory?

You don't have to, but it's usually a good idea if it's not obscenely expensive.

It just means they have tested those modules.

Ok, thanks for your reply. Now with speed, from many YouTube reviews, it seems 3200 mhz is the sweetspot, but I was thinking on going down to 3000 mhz. Will this be okay or should I go down to the 2400 mhz as the cpu recommends?

3000 is fine, I would not go any slower. Yeah avoid anything less than that, as it does offer a good 5-8% over slower ram (especially in gaming). I've seen it go up to 3600, then it starts to slope off.

Thumbs up

Thanks for your opinion. I'll try to stay around the 3200 to 3600 levels. Greatly appreciated.
