Use Cat5 & Cat 5e for 10/100 networks, while Cat 6 is better for 100/1000 networks.

Cat 6 is 500MHz, Cat 5e is 350MHz, and cat 5 is i think 300MHz but dont quote me onnthat

cat stands for category also.

hope i helped
U R rite nicks cept

CAT5 -- 100MHZ -- 10

CAT5E -- 350MHZ -- 10/100

CAT 6 -- 500MHz -- Gigabit Ethernet

the main difference between CAT 5/e graded cable and CAT6 is ... 5 has a higher grade of Wire (and its multicore .. a lot of CAT5/e isnt) and the CAT6 has better insulation per wire

if u need to no further bout any electrical standards rummage round www.ieee.com (but its a mess dont expect to find info quickly eg i couldnt verify the cat 5 frequency there )
