No, Settlers was amazing! Not everything has to be AAA titles.

Very excited about Assassin's Creed, FarCry mechanics have been done to death.

Excited about all but FC5 the least; it could do with an overhaul to cut out the similarity.

I'm so bored of the Far Cry premise. Blood Dragon even recognised this and mocked itself. Far Cry 5 will have to completely revamp things. Otherwise it'll be another pass for me. Even Far Cry Primal didn't offer any genuine variety. What it offered was skin deep, with a change to the setting and a rearranging of the weaponry. It still followed the same basic core gameplay philosophies which I feel have become dated now. I'm tired of collecting stuff and taking over encampments in an environment that looks nice but has no real dynamism or creativity. I'm tired of upgrading my character in a very linear and predictable way. Give me something new.

Far Cry 1 was amazing. One of my favourite games of all time.

Far Cry 2 completely changed the formula and put the player in an untypical setting.

Far Cry 3 updated the story and took us back to the same gorgeous coastlines of the original, but ultimately it was the same game.

Far Cry Blood Dragon was basically a DLC intended to mock the series.

Far Cry 4 was Far Cry 3 with a few tweaks to the animal life and a few vehicle additions. Same basic premise and story.

Far Cry Primal felt like another DLC. They created their own language, got rid of many of the ranged weapons, and that's it.

Far Cry 5 needs to offer a new gameplay mechanic. Creating a believable, dynamic, adaptable world like in Shadow of Mordor would be awesome.

Far Cry 1 - Was fantastic until the end part with the alien things.

Far Cry 2 - drive in circles for ages taking out wagons. Yawn. Only redeeming features were the beautiful graphics and the poison dart sniper rifle that I had so much fun with.

Far World Of Warcraft 3 - erm yeah, nah.

Repeat adding sequential number here < >

Yeah, the Far Cry 1 ending was so dumb, but it's still one of my favourite memories of FPS gaming. Its engine allowed things I had never seen or done before. I could role barrels down hills and knock enemies down. I could shoot actual bullet holes in bodies. I could swim with fishes. It was awesome. My brother and I got into PC building because of Far Cry. We were already playing Half-Life, Deus Ex, GTA, Quake, Civilization, Counter Strike, EVE, Unreal Tournament, things like that, but Far Cry's engine was so revolutionary.

The water in FC1 absolutely blew my mind. Just totally and utterly blew my mind... I still remember

And wandering around the island was just breathtaking. And exploring etc etc. Just a shame it all turned to lava and thus poo at the end lol.

Definitely one of the defining moments in gaming though that. Half Life was too. I remember seeing a mate playing it and I didn't have a PC so I went out and bought one

I remember we could never afford a gaming PC as kids, so we built a really, really cheap one out of old components. We used to play Unreal Tournament 2003 at, like, 20 FPS with every single setting turned to the lowest. But when Far Cry came out, my brother was able to afford a basic gaming PC and we were able to run Far Cry. Then we picked up Unreal Tournament 2004 and had so much fun playing with tanks in single player mode. We couldn't play online as we only had dial up, but it was still a lot of fun and helped solidify my love for gaming.
