I'm so bored of the Far Cry premise. Blood Dragon even recognised this and mocked itself. Far Cry 5 will have to completely revamp things. Otherwise it'll be another pass for me. Even Far Cry Primal didn't offer any genuine variety. What it offered was skin deep, with a change to the setting and a rearranging of the weaponry. It still followed the same basic core gameplay philosophies which I feel have become dated now. I'm tired of collecting stuff and taking over encampments in an environment that looks nice but has no real dynamism or creativity. I'm tired of upgrading my character in a very linear and predictable way. Give me something new.
Far Cry 1 was amazing. One of my favourite games of all time.
Far Cry 2 completely changed the formula and put the player in an untypical setting.
Far Cry 3 updated the story and took us back to the same gorgeous coastlines of the original, but ultimately it was the same game.
Far Cry Blood Dragon was basically a DLC intended to mock the series.
Far Cry 4 was Far Cry 3 with a few tweaks to the animal life and a few vehicle additions. Same basic premise and story.
Far Cry Primal felt like another DLC. They created their own language, got rid of many of the ranged weapons, and that's it.
Far Cry 5 needs to offer a new gameplay mechanic. Creating a believable, dynamic, adaptable world like in Shadow of Mordor would be awesome.
