Well im not blaming you for anything, its a service for us to hang around here, you are the reason OC3D is what it is and we just have to abide by the rules of the owner, simple enough i would think.

Honestly if people want to swear and spampost, there are plenty of other forums for that purpose.

TBH dude the rules are pretty much the same as they always have been. There were always infractions but back in the switch from when Jim sold out it all got messed up and has taken a bit of code jiggling to get it all back working again.

All Ive done is fixed it.

I shouldnt have to spend time dealing with stuff like this all of the time.
People are childish on here, I am childish on here. If it isn't a genuine advice thread or a build log, something with real meaningful content behind it then at times I will be a swear. The consequences of what I may say don't make any difference, generally there is no need to swear to get a post deleted. A thread without any words was even deleted , which was genuinely just meant as humor, anyway I shall digress.

Stopping this kind of behavior is about the forum as a collective not the individuals, you need to change why they come here and what is presented to them. You can't influence their opinion or what they say, they will probably just quit and be replaced by more people who will react in the same way.

What has been said recently about swears and enforcing rules makes sense, I can see why there are some things that need to be reinstated before the new forums come along. When the moderation balance has been found again hopefully it's a change that can make everybody (including mods) act a little more professionally. I think sustaining good behavior will come from the content and the discussion on the forums. News articles are the biggest problem for me personally, so many seem speculative and pointless, i'm not taking this out on the team but too many baity articles get run and their hierarchy on the forums is inappropriate. I'm not going to go into whether they are bait or not, clearly we disagree on that but just think when it's posted and discussion is encouraged on the forums how can users react. That process all needs to be just a little more considered and controlled.

There are a lot less active build logs on the forums than in the past, well they don't spend as long in the recent posts list. I think they are a good tool to keep people positive and constructive and it should be something that engages the entire audience. OC3D seems unique in that logs from amateurs or 'pros' are all equally welcome and get attention that is a real thing to show off about. Similarly not many forums have rig gallery's where you are welcome to just show up and post a rig that is already finished and get your own thread. These are things that need to be continually hyped, the news and social media platforms seem like a strong way to do it. I know little shares do happen but now the team is bigger and stronger perhaps some time could be spend doing build log summaries, monthly round-ups, rig of the week etc... I know this is bordering right on to what some other forums do. But perhaps it could be done better in a less competitive way embracing a wider variety of skill sets and ambitions. Just my ideas, i've seen a lot of forums in other hobbies descend into rubbish, name calling, entirely off topic and over political posting, you can't lose site of what the forums are there for but you can't control it too much. I think we are on the way back to something sensible, just need to take the right actions to keep it going and getting better all the time. Increased social media makes it far more competitive but we shouldn't underestimate the power forums give in presenting text and images in a structured way. News works fine on facebook but build logs never will.

Epic post. Thank you for that dude.

The build log part has been in the plans for an age - but time has been difficult. Id actually like to find someone to just do that one thing. It would be their passion so it would work really well. I openly encourage anyone with a passion to write or contribute anything on the forums. Like Dice with his driver posts.

Great post JR, and I think thats a good idea for people to contribute Tom. I like the idea of people helping to build up the place in ways like that than being giving infractions and warnings and what not.

I can appreciate what you are doing with the swearing and what not but I don't know, I just don't see it going well, but we'll see.

Id rather do this than leave it going where it was fella.

Ive always encouraged the enthusiastic ones to contribute. You were one of them.

End of the day infractions are only there for those that stray as a guide to where the path is.

Id love for them to never be needed!

as for swearing, it's not hard to put "*" instead of the full word, i.e "i've f**ked up, again"
