RGB is coming to D&D with Pixels' customisable dice

RGB all of the things!

Read more about Pixel's RGB Dice.

I have no words... Unless the hardware in there is perfectly centered, those dice won't be rolling so smoothly and always favor a side, this is so stupid.

^What he said.

Who could possibly even stop to consider a die that is only "fairly well balanced".

Fix that, and it would be fun and finally a sort of useful implementation of "RGB".

Surely they just use counterweights(Or adjusted the battery placement) to ensure the die is still balanced? It's not too hard to calculate what masses you need where to ensure essentially perfect balance

I have updated the article to reflect what Pixels had to say on their FAQ page. I agree that balance is a huge concern here, as badly balanced die can ruin games.

Their actual quote on the matter is that they are "very close". I wouldn't pay $30 for a single die, but I certainly wouldn't pay $30 for a chance of having an imbalanced die. There's a reason why I only buy Chessex ATM.

Weighted dice will suddenly pop up as a common accusation for any winners in this area. These would never be allowed for competitions thats for sure.

Even a 0.5% imbalance can throw doubt on the matter.

This would be one of those dragons den ideas that get laughed off, or voted as terrible.

I'm guessing that these are mostly for home groups. I've known people to collect fancy dice, though I have also seen many of these dice be imbalanced, mostly on low numbers. This is why most of the sets I use are Chessex, aside from 1 set I have which was a gift.

Getting these to be perfectly balanced will be very difficult. I want to see this in the hands of D&D YouTubers or other 3rd party testers.

Like a lot of RGB products it's the RGB that will sell these.

Only thing I can see is what WYP said. These are collectors items to some. Much like trading cards.
