I then decided to reuse this system in another case for PAX Prime, but the motherboard died, so I upgraded to the Asrock Extreme11 X79

am i wrong in thinking they look like 690's though?, they have the logos, and the bezel looks the same too

They are 690's as far as I can tell as well.
