Over Moderation On Forums Getting Too Much

This is the first and only forum I've been an active member of so luckily I've never had to experience bad moderators, but I'm not surprised some let the small amount of power go to their heads and start acting like gods amongst men.

Also, I don't see why anybody would slate you Tom, you're unbiased, you tell it how it is, you're funny, and likeable :)

Normally involves:

a fan boy saying I am

someone not liking my thoughts on a product

someone trying to blame me or my testing for their shortfalls

someone not being able to hack being reprimanded

Tiz called fanboyism "Oh no you told the truth about my favourite brand so now I'm going to throw cup cakes at you and cry like a princess".

Boo friggidy hoo, There will always be those people out there that don't want to hear the truth on certain subjects/products, Those people I like to label as "Ball-less" Meaning they need to grow a pair and take it like a man HHAAOOOO ^_^

the only time i got slightly pissed was when i got into an argument with a mod and he didn't grant me a final statement because it was off topic while keeping his own in the thread. but that issue was resolved rather quickly by us talking about it and just deleting the entire argument.
it's a bit frustrating when posts get deleted because they go off topic because that's just what happens in a discussion, but i suppose it would be a lot of work for the mods to start up new threads for every post going off topic.

I'll mention one which is fairly over-the-top moderated etc.. Battlelog... it's horrendous over there, always has been, is it any wonder it has been renamed Mordor etc..

They have some pretty serious censorship stuff going on over there :( which makes me sad really.

I'm not naming and shaming, it's just a good example of a forum that, in my opinion is there solely for the self gratification of the DICE/EA team and nothing else.
How dare you call the cesspit known as Blog, Mordor.^_^

Mordor is the old members from EAUK(and we got the name from DICE).

i heard people got banned for pointing out issues with the game.
well, dice employees have their way with the customers and it's not a very friendly one. that piece of crap of a community manager treated friends of mine like trash on twitter more than once.

This is no reflection of the mods on here, but when I read these spats I always think of this :D

Goes down like a used condom at a purity convention!

I can imagine a mod trying to get a girl in a club "Hey baby, Wanna come over to myspace and twitter my yahoo until I google all over your facebook ?!"

Another one "I'd like to do your trench run with my star fighter"

"Your bosons give me a hadron" lol...I may need sleep.

I could probably go one better. I was joined a phone forum as I was planning on flashing a new ROM and was asking a question before I did it.

I got banned for 30 days for and I quote "Improper punctuation, Read forum rules". I read through my post and I did make a mistake. I put a comma where there should have been a full stop but common it was a bloody typo :rolleyes:

I am also joined a few car sites and one had a big blow up there about 2 years ago. A member got a month ban or something for constantly breaking the rules but it would be something silly like the odd curse word by accident during a heated discussion but nothing like an insult or anything just something like for f*ck sake. He got banned anyway which started people asking where is he gone because the discussion was continuing without him. The forum found out he was banned which sparked people saying it wasn't fair and that it wasn't fair leaving the discussion open and the guy couldn't defend himself or something. I think if I remember correctly the discussion was on something to do with some work he wasn't happy with from a forum partner and the partner kept deleting his posts to hide the work so the banned guy brought it up like most people would.

Once people asked what happen "x" they started getting banned just for asking reason was something like trying to start an argument or something. Needless to say loads of people got banned either permanently or temporarily over a paid forum trader who wanted to hide the fact he messed up and he got the mods on his side.

This is why people need to be vetted thoroughly before they are made into mods as more often than not they are complete nut jobs.

The one for the phone forum was a new one on me. I just said fuck it and never went back. Went to a different forum instead and found out what I needed. But talk about being anal.
