Well, if you want the form factor, there are PCI-E M.2 ssds for more affordable prices, and same goes for entry level nVME drives.

PCI-E 4.0 storage would be a niche product if it wasn't for marketing, really. In all likelihood you couldn't tell the difference between SATA SSD and top of the line nVME without running a benchmark.
