[HELP] Corsair H90 on LGA775, Rampage Extreme X48

Hello,

Tried to find the answer for this question in the last couple of days, googled and googled for ages but to be honest im still confused. I know the official site says no compatibility with this socket. Read that the H90's backplate has holes for lga 775, but the brackets don't have these holes on them. Some of the reviews on the internet(quaility sites) do say that the H90 is compatible with lga 775 boards, some say something else, and reliable shops has lga 775 compatibility under the H90 details. I would do modding if necessary to make it fit.
Any ideas?
Did anyone try this before ?
Don't want to spend £70 on a cooler what won't fit my mobo.

Thanks in advance.
Nathan

Honestly it's not worth spending £70 on a cooler for the 775 platform.

Best bet would be to put that money aside and start saving for a new socket.

I know this isn't exactly helpful but even a Core i3 trades blows with a Q9650 which is the highest you can get on the 775 platform.

I would spend this money happily, because my plan is to keep this cooler in my next rig. The reason why I have still this socket is that i want to learn how to OC this old and complicated platform. When i understood everything i will start to build my next new rig. Would keep the H90 anyway later on.
Thanks for your quick reply tho :)

Ok fair enough and your welcome but overclocking on 775 and the newer stuff is different so you will still need to research and start all over gain once you move to a new platform.
