I wonder it was a strategy not to impact 10 series sales.

not with the 10 series , but had one 680,two 780s...

not with the 10 series , but had one 680,two 780s and two 980ti's form them .
no issues with any of them . i think they were all reference based cards, the only difference being custom cooling...

yep the dp to monitor and hdmi to receiver works...

yep the dp to monitor and hdmi to receiver works for me , with no sync issues .
but the graphics card thinks its a second monitor , if i disable it then i loose audio.
