2 years is nowhere near enough time to make changes, and then see them come to market. Keller joined AMD 2012, left 2015 and it was another 2 years later that the product actually made it to market....

New Socket likely required
Most rumours of this CPU have it paired with Quad or Hex channel memory.
Assuming that is true, and a new CPU is in the works (im not convinced yet) then I think it must need a new socket. AM4...
