Your correct, only AM3+ boards support bulldozer chips. For OP just go for the cheapest option, the 7950 will handle most things easily :)

OP, you could try a combination of the lights off and an LED strip (pref. coloured, maybe a light blue?) around the back of your monitor, that's meant to reduce eye fatigue too..
