As excited as I am for Zen 3 I'll stick with my 8700k until we get a new CPU supporting DDR5. Don't see a real need to upgrade until then. Only a couple more years and this CPU isn't holding me back.

We are for x4 lanes. We've got almost 32GB/s bandwidth on gen 4. It would be impossible to max out gen 4 on an x4 drive.

In theory we could have gotten these speeds with gen 3 and 8 lanes...

I had that problem before. Easy fix. I just loosened the IO Shield, put my GPU in and then made sure the shield wasn't flopping around. Wasn't secured by a screw but it certainly wasn't moving.
