76 is brilliant for that card, why worry about a block?

No because that waterblock is for the reference 290X, The 290X Matrix has a custom PCB.

Oh didn't realize he was using the Matrix, Ya you need a custom block for it

Because 76c was when I had push/pull on my radiator. I had to take two of the fans off because it's just too damn noisy.

What is it now with less fans ?

I just ran a test, and it's hitting upward of 86c. I am most displeased :(

Still a lot better than a reference 290X though and it's definitely quieter.

Wish they had those in a non-RGB version :(
I ordered AF140's to go on the H110i GTX since I really don't like the leds, the stock fans actually look like they're the AF series anyway

Just got this in the mail:

86 is still well within tolerance - iirc they go to 95 before they should throttle?

It's a choice - f you are concerned about noise then you live with those temps. If temps are more important then put the push/pull back in and have it set up so the fans only ramp up with the temps.
That way when you're not playing anything strenuous for the CPU the system is a lot quieter.

That's good to know. Thanks for the answers and advice guys, I really appreciate it. It's been a long time since I ran an AMD card and I guess the high temps were freaking me out a bit.

The Matrix isn't that great for keeping it cool. However it's still an improvement over reference design:)
