I'm struggling to get excited about cool new stuff when RAM & GPUs in particular are just so expensive. :( On a positive note, glad to hear AMD are still keeping Intel busy

I guess I'm just getting too old for this kind of hardware but the second I saw a screen I was out.

It still has a glass sidepanel (a smallish one) but the Havn BF360 I just moved to definitely prioritises air performance over a huge glass sidepanel

Agreed, RAM prices are just making PCs an inaccessible luxury for many now on top of the already ridiculous GPU prices that people just accept now.

I agree with you on the burn without profit point. Obviously the scenario I listed is something I hope doesn't become a reality, but the barriers to entry for a new chip fabricator are very high, so it's going to be interesting to see where that supply does or doesn't come from

Call me a conspiracy theorist but this is how I see this going. - Prices stabilise - It becomes the "new normal" and this happens to GPUs, SSDs etc. too - Enthusiast PC ownership becomes even more of a luxury than it already is at the current price points - PC/Gaming enthusiasts are forced down...

My mate had this problem and it was the PSU. He had a no brand 850w and a EVGA 750w but had been using the no brand because he thought the bigger number would be better. Swapped tot he more trusted PSU and never had the issue again

Because they don't make you buy a new socket every generation and price to performance isn't horrific. Now if only AMD could do the same to Nvidia as far as GPUs are concerned

it's the same as Skins in games. The majority hate them but the minority that spend, create value that far exceeds the concern of even a few losses in sales

I just hope it legitimately gives Nvidia a run for its money. The increase of price beyond inflation and the reduction of performance in each series is just taking the absolute p**s now.

Overclockers are essentially first party scalpers at this point. Based on all the reviews I've watched, to pay £1200+ for a 5080 is madness and although the 5090 does appear to be a beast, it shouldn't cost that much. The 5080 almost feels like it exists just to convince people to spend an...
