New build, what do you think?

Hi guys, not posted on here for years! I finally upgraded my trusty Celeron E1200, and because I'm so loyal to the Celeron brand I couldnt pass up the cheapness of the G530. My understanding so far is that the G530 is quite a nice little CPU for the money (£35). Should be more than enough for...

    Celeron M 1.73GHz 430 help

OK, So I happen to have a celeron M 430 which has been pulled from a laptop. The mobo socket is mPGA 478, is this CPU compatible with any Desktop motherboards? I understand this is the same core as core2duos, but with only one core and less cache, so not too dis-similar to the e1200 I have in...

    is the 7900gt 512mb much of an upgrade over a 7600gt 256mb

Bloke in the chip shop has a 7900gt 512mb gddr3, think its made by BFG or something is there much of a difference between that and my current and trusty 7600gt 256mb gddr3? my card plays the games i want to play, but i can probably get the 7900gt for 20 something so just wondering what...

    Odd HDD issue

Right, I have a p5kc mobo with an awful (imo) jmicron controller. I dont have any SATA drives so using PATA. When I done my fresh XP install, all went fine. However, when using Installing from Virtual cd/dvd drives (magic iso, daemon tools both tried), it would hang after approx 1.5-2GB into...

Any tips for getting to 3.2GHz (100% OC)

Right, I had it at 2.9 for a little while, but I came back in the morning to a blue screen, which i could only put down to the OC. I've been running it at 1.6 for 3 days since, but would like to try again. I have the ram at 4-4-4-12, @ 700-900MHz, would this be too tight for the ram I have...

Help me OC my celeron e1200, please :)

Spec is: Celeron e1200 (1.6ghz) Asus P5KC Geil 2x1GB 800mhz, "ultra low latency" 8800GTS 320MB All running really nice, but I've noticed some games get a bit choppy so would like to start gaining some MHz. I've tried some small changes in the bios, and had to clear it to get it going...

    Project: "I might regret this"

Well, I thought it was about time to upgrade from my trusty Shuttle P4 2.8, and as I'm pretty skint, sought out some cheap bits. I got a Celery e1200 - cheeeeep dual core oh yeah :D Geil 800MHz DDR2, 2x1GB - was only a couple quid more than cheap e, so why not POV GF 8800GTS 320MB - 88 quid...

Best card for £80 as of April

Right, I need to pick a gfx card. I want people to keep in mind the performance of a typically overclocked card rather than stock speed. So far the ATI 3850 256MB seems best choice for £80, which o/c's to near 3870 speed with ease (apparently). if I skimp on CPU (e1200 instead of e2160) I...

Bang for Buck: E1200 or E2160

The e2160 is ~33% more expensive than the e1200, and both seem to o/c well to around 3GHz on stock cooling (will be trying for 3.2GHz though). Am I really going to see the benefit of 1MB L2 cache over 512KB?

    Mobo choice, 945 or 946?

I happen to have a pair of foxconn mobos here, that I bought cheap. One is using a 945 chipset, the other a 946. The 946 has 7.1 audio, and intel gma3000 onboard (although i wont be using that). Other than that they look pretty much identicle. From what I've read, I may have issues with some...
