Switch refresh confirmed, sticks with the original Switch's battery but seemingly uses a 16nm shrink of the Tegra X1 (20nm original, big power savings in that jump) to almost double battery life.

You have to remember that in England there are A LOT of the "old boy network" that have their fingers in a lot of pies so they are not going to go against something which sees money going their way.

Unfortunately they couldn't take a Belgium-like approach with our current (15 years old) gambling legislation. Clearly it's not up to scratch with current titles though which is why the select committee are seeking to change the legislation. This ruling is just on whether current legislation would legally allow a firmer approach, not on the direction the legislation should/will take with its upcoming revisions.

EDIT[About Boris]: Sorry thought this was small talk and chit chat moving now

Apparently Navi 12, Big Navi, Is coming soon, Could either be a direct 2080 Super contender or 2080 Ti contender, Although I think it's the former rather than the latter.

tgrech

Yeah I'd think the former, or somewhere in between, they'd need a slightly larger than VII die with the gddr controller but they could do it with not too much bigger than that with this iteration of RDNA. Tbh I don't think the 2080Ti is competing in a large enough market for that battle to seem particularly lucrative even if it were just about viable economically on 7nm. (Disregarding exceptional circumstances like them already having major garaunteed design wins maybe from high density enterprise customers for a part like that or something along those lines.)

A TomsHardware test (https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-ryzen-3000-turbo-boost-frequency-analysis,6253.html) seems to indicate that the reason Ryzen3000 CPUs can have such aggressive boost clocks but only relatively modest all-core OC's is because AMD now bins the chips per-core in order to be able to hit such aggressive frequencies with early 7nm, with the new scheduler ensuring that heavy single or low threaded workloads get moved to the cores able to hit these seemingly somewhat rarely achievable clock speeds, with binning ensuring that at least 1 core per die on the 6-core is capable of hitting that. This is akin to, or somewhat an evolution of, the "Prime Cores" we're seeing in mobile 7nm parts, or the "Hovis method" used for Scorpio engine in the Xbone. [Can you do per core overclocking nowadays? Might be worth a try if any owners here have been trying to push OCs]

Bartacus
31-07-19, 03:33 PM
You can do per-CCX overclocking (or is it CCD?) with available tools. Lots of folks on OCN are experimenting with those things.

I just wish per core overclocking was possible/easy. It would be a killer feature for Ryzen, as it could fix a lot of the downsides of Ryzen overclocking.

It is possible. Easy is a matter of learning, and perspective. It's easy for any geek. :D The big question is whether it's worth the headache or not. Is it really worth it, testing for hours to figure out which cores boost higher than others? Not to me, but YMMV. I'm content to wait for more BIOS updates. Once they get the major bugs squashed, and AGESA code is stabilized, then I'll look more into OCing and tweaking. I see no point in doing that now, other than for fun.

I know there are ways to get it to work. I'd be trying to test this right now if I had Ryzen 3rd Gen hardware here. I'm just hearing that the process is a little tedius ATM.

What I mean is that I wish it was possible via the BIOS in the same way that it's possible on Intel platforms.

At least it should be easier to work out what the strong and weak cores are now if it does get simpler to do, by monitoring the per core frequencies in the chips stock config under load.

Well, if it was a typo, they would have corrected it and kept the original source material. They chose instead to delete all evidence of the info.

Netflix was able to optimize their FreeBSD network stack which nearly doubled their Intel throughput to 191Gb/s and tripled AMD throughput from 64Gb/s to 194Gb/s.

Best part is it takes 2 Intel Xeon CPUs to reach that network speed whereas only one AMD CPU since Epyc has far more PCIe lanes.

Daisy chain RGB right to a motherboard header, controlled by Aura / Fusion / etc, but also 2.87mm H2O static pressure, so excellent radiator fans. Huawei blockage of terminals in US and EU is but a smidge on their total revenue. They profit more on their own asia market. Even if Google remains prohibited from collaboration, Huawei are on the verge of creating their own OS via open source software. Only downside is the support for google playstore.

Its the removal of all their non core/core equipment that will dent them more, dropping their base stations/routers and switches for 4G and 5G and replacing with a competitor like Ericsson for example.

That in itself is a shame because Huawei are way ahead of anyone else when it comes to 5G. And their 4G technology in terms of customisation and feature rich environments is a god send when it comes to configurations.

Intel cancels its previous 2015 discontinuation of 2013's 22nm Haswell Pentium G3420, almost certainly to make up for the current shortage in 14nm and 10nm parts:
https://www.tomshardware.com/news/intel-resuscitates-22nm-haswell-pentium-processor

[I know Intel claimed to have discontinued 22nm parts long ago, but I can say for a fact that these have continued to be sourced by and almost certainly still manufactured for OEMs in China for new builds throughout all of 14nm, when looking at it from the standard parts available in that market this doesn't seem like a real change in supply, just an expansion/declaration of something that's been going on for a while, as 22nm has been very obviously plugging a supply shortage in China since Broadwell].

{Of course, 14nm should have been cheaper than 22nm parts assuming 14nm's transition was as standard as Intel claimed, but the reality seemed to be that 22nm remained cheaper to manufacture for years after 14nm's launch due to 14's low yields}

Early 14nm was a bit of a disaster. There was a reason why we got Devil's Canyon instead of Broadwell on desktop. We never did get a i7-5770K. Thankfully things got a lot better with Skylake.

I agree with you that this is for cheap OEM systems to fill the low-end supply gap.

I wouldn't go that far, but I agree that NAND manufacturers have let this happen to a degree. They know that demand is up and haven't prepared. The SSD demand from new consoles will also make matters worse.

Hopefully reductions in SSD controller costs will help mitigate any NAND cost increases, though what I see is M.2 SSD prices getting a lot closer to SATA drives.

When Seagate talk about HAMR and multi-actuator tech, a lot of people just say "HDD is dead" and wonder why anyone would invest there. Seeing this just proves how unstable and unreliable the NAND market can be.

I'm thinking this. Origin PC need air coolers, and now Corsair sees that they can use that to make air coolers viable for them (as Origin PC can give them volume).

Vulkan Specification 1.2 released
https://www.anandtech.com/show/15401/vulkan-12-specification-released

Almost entirely developer focused. So us gamers won't see much of a difference. BUT its easier for developers, better optimization, visual quality, and since it's easier to use, LESS BUGS! :D

Perfect time for a new API update. As mentioned in the article, Windows 7 is now EOL. Windows 8 is similar to 10(less platform-specific code). Next-Gen consoles are shipping soon, which means API development will be at a very high level as programmers need to acclimate with the market changes.

I do wonder if PS will use a custom Vulkan instead of their own proprietary API. It could really ease the load on Devs, make games cheaper, etc.

Main reason to get excited though, Kronos Group have fully implemented NATIVE SUPPORT for HLSL from MS's D3D. It compiles it down to SPIR-V, which lets it work with Vulkan.

AKA this means expect more Linux Support. Since Developers now have native access they can have a much (x100) easier time porting and getting Windows games on Linux. Wine Windows Compatibility, Valve's Proton tool and DXVK are supported.

Yeah, because even if AMD had a slight upper hand, swapping CPUs in this industry is a huge risk. Once you have Intel and it becomes stable its safer to stick with them "usually" to avoid complications.

But AMD has hammered Intel so hard in this market now, that it has become worth the risk to swap over. Brave move and Kudos to Cloudfare for making that leap.

AMD today released the WHQL version of 20.2.2 with a few more bug fixes -

https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-20-2-2

Fixed Issues

Performing a task switch with some Radeon Software features enabled or some third-party applications with hardware acceleration running in the background may cause a system hang or black screen.
Improvements have been made that allow for more responsive fan ramp up or fan ramp down times on Radeon RX 5700 series graphics products.
Performance Metrics Overlay and Radeon WattMan incorrectly report lower than expected clock speeds on Radeon RX 5700 series graphics products during gaming workloads.
When Instant Replay is enabled, a TDR or black screen may occur when launching games or applications.
A black screen may occur when toggling HDR on in the game settings of Battlefield™ V.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt™ may experience an application hang or black screen during certain parts of the game or intermittently during gameplay.
Some video content in Chrome™ may appear as a black screen or be unresponsive on Radeon RX 5000 series graphics products when hardware acceleration is enabled.
Metro Exodus™ may experience an application hang or TDR when choosing some specific dialogue prompts in the Sam’s Story DLC.
Grand Theft Auto™ V may experience an application crash when invoking Radeon Software’s overlay with third party OSD applications running.
Monster Hunter World™: Iceborne may experience intermittent crashes while idle or on the character creation screen.
Some games colors may appear washed out when HDR mode has been enabled in game and Windows® on Radeon RX 5700 series graphics products
After a Factory Reset installation with the ‘Keep My Settings’ option chosen, Instant Replay could fail to function if it was enabled in the previous Radeon Software installation.
When invoking Radeon Software’s overlay while a game is open users may observe flickering in the game or in the Radeon Software interface.
Radeon Software may experience a crash and error message when locking Windows® or performing a sleep or hibernate with the Radeon Software Streaming tab open.
A loss of display with working audio may be experienced on a limited number of displays when performing a mode change on Radeon RX 5000 series graphics products.
Radeon Software may fail to launch if Radeon Software’s overlay is disabled and a game is running in the background.
Battlefield™ V may experience an application hang or TDR after extended periods of play.
Some Origin™ games may fail to be detected or may detect the incorrect game title in Radeon Software.
Some productivity applications are being detected and listed in the Radeon Software games tab.
The Radeon Chill hotkey could sometimes continue to remain enabled once the user has removed or disabled the hotkey.
Red Dead Redemption™ 2 may exhibit blocky textures on snow covered terrain.
After resuming from sleep, Chrome™ may experience an application crash if video content was previously playing on Radeon RX 5700 series graphics products.
Radeon FreeSync status in Radeon Software may sometimes fail to update when enabling or disabling the feature through the display itself.
Fortnite™ may experience an application crash on Radeon RX 500 series Hybrid Graphics system configurations.

Known Issues

Enhanced Sync may cause a black screen to occur when enabled on some games and system configurations. Enhanced Sync has been temporarily disabled from the gaming profile and any users who may be experiencing issues with Enhanced Sync enabled should disable it as a temporary workaround.
Performance Metrics Overlay and Radeon WattMan incorrectly report higher than expected idle clock speeds on Radeon RX 5700 series graphics products. Performance and power consumption are not impacted by this incorrect reporting.
DOOM™ may experience an intermittent system hang or application crash during gameplay.
Desktop cursor may intermittently remain visible after toggling Radeon Software’s overlay in some games. A workaround is to bring up the game menu or task switch to refresh the cursor.
A system crash or hang may occur when running the Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers™ benchmark.
The Gaming tab in Radeon Software may display some folder locations appearing as games.
Radeon Software may open with an inconsistent window size or may not keep its previously set size when opened.
Modifying the HDMI Scaling slider may cause FPS to become locked to 30.
Some games may exhibit stutter intermittently during gameplay on Radeon RX 5000 series graphics products.
Some games may experience stutter while using Instant Replay or third-party applications that stream or perform screen capture. A potential workaround is to disable these features or applications while gaming.
Although Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.2.2 resolves many black screen issues, AMD is aware that some users may still experience black screen or system hang issues during extended periods of gameplay. AMD will continue to monitor and investigate reports of these issues closely.
AMD A-Series/E-Series APU Processors will reflect older Radeon Software Adrenalin 2019 Edition Settings user interface. AMD will update the user interface to the 2020 Edition in a future release.

This is incorrect.

People can't read. They said they "only" looked at the top 100 PS4 games and vast majority are already compatible. They said nothing more and nothing less. People need to pay attention. They said NOTHING about the other games not working. They are looking into those games. They've only tested 100.

I was going to write something based on Sony's blog post, but my reading of it was that their emulation tech should support these top 100 games at launch. Support could be wider, but they haven't checked yet.

I don't see this as a confirmation that only 100 PS4 games will work on PS5 at launch.

It's still not a good sign when compared to Microsoft's track record on this.

The difference is that Microsoft has been preparing for this for years, Sony hasn't. I'd bet that Sony wasn't considering PS5 backwards compatibility until way after the PS4 Pro came out.

Microsoft has been working hard to ensure that its software ecosystem was ready for this changeover. In contrast, all of the PS2 classics that I played on PS4 (and Pro) had framerate issues.

Yeah that is what I mean. Apparently all future consoles were supposed to backward support all of the games. So PS5 would support PS4 etc.

Mark - yeah, the PS1 emulation on the PS2 was terrible. Not surprised they got rid of it, but it's just annoying. This is one area the PC has always been the best at. Even if you have to use DOSbox it works.

Yeah that is what I mean. Apparently all future consoles were supposed to backward support all of the games. So PS5 would support PS4 etc.

Surprised no one picked up on this

R6S will support cross-generation matchmaking. PS4 to PS5/ Xbox One to Series One
Can take your current-gen Blu Ray disc, put it in your Ps5/Series X and it'll work
Basically you do not have to buy it again.

They did not comment on anything else such as improved framerate, resolution, etc.
Worth noting though that on PS4 Pro(and I assume One X) in Terrorist Hunt the games already supports an unlocked framerate(cap at 120) so the games on console already support higher framerates. I would expect that to continue over unless they want a 60fps cap to make consoles across both gens on level footing.

Though if I spent money on a next gen console I would prefer to get the best experience from the game I could and if people stay on old tech then oh well.
Also very likely that both new controllers will support paddle buttons like the Xbox Elite does so that alone is a big advantage. Adding higher framerates for multiplayer games mine as well exist too.

The consoles especially the Xbox Series X are looking good, now I just want them to say that all games will support keyboard and mouse, and for Frontier to be told to enable 3rd party hotas support, not just the thrustmaster ones.

These things are going to be huge:
One of your most frequent questions about Fleet Carriers was: How much do they cost? Fleet Carriers will be a lucrative investment, costing 5,000,000,000cr at launch.

Fleet Carriers are individually owned and feature 16 landing pads (of varying sizes) for other players to dock at.
Fleet Carriers use a new fuel, Tritium, to jump from system to system.
Fleet Carriers have a max jump range of 500LY at one time, with the ability to jump whenever the owner wants, however, they will have a build up and cool down period between jumps.
You can manage your carrier's finances by setting tariffs and adjusting the buying and selling prices for commodities traded in it's market.

Same, but I reckon it's because they're missing so much stuff they'd experience on track that they don't at home which will affect their performance, that and since they're F1 drivers, some would expect them to do brilliant.

This build is cumulative and includes all the fixes released to Windows Insiders in the Slow ring in Build 19041.21 through Build 19041.173.
We fixed an issue that causes the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service (rpcss.exe) to close unexpectedly and the device stops working. Then you must restart the device.
We fixed an issue that causes the Device Enrollment Status Page (ESP) on managed devices to stop responding if a policy that requires a restart is installed on the device.
We fixed an issue that might prevent the rear camera flash from functioning as expected on devices that have a rear camera.
It also includes the latest security updates to the Microsoft Scripting Engine, Windows Kernel, Windows App Platform and Frameworks, Microsoft Graphics Component, Windows Media, Windows Shell, Windows Management, Windows Cloud Infrastructure, Windows Fundamentals, Windows Authentication, Windows Virtualization, Windows Core Networking, Windows Storage and Filesystems, Windows Update Stack, and the Microsoft JET Database Engine.

https://medium.com/vsystems/v-systems-and-x-vpn-co-launch-blockchain-powered-internet-protocol-tachyon-4a946d171bec

Sunny King, the inventor of Proof of Stake (PoS), announced Tachyon as its first application to be built in the ecosystem, which is an X-VPN based decentralized internet protocol. PoS is essentially block chain and is the new data structure(relative to data structures) everyone is familiar with in regards to crypto currency.

This could have so many benefits. VPNs are useful yes but are very much not uncrackable and slow.

While the new WireGuard standard for VPNs will considerably increase security and speed, it still has the same problems of not being invulnerable.

Using the PoS data structure/concepts it could speed up the process depending on the algorithm, or if not maintain the current speeds yet without a doubt provide the absolute most security and near virtually impossible to find somebody.

It's really cool and the white paper on their website is very dense and I haven't gone through it all yet but this could be a big upgrade to VPNs in the nearish future.

02-05-20, 08:58 AM
It's worth noting PoS is still unproven technology, and hasn't successfully been used for any meaningfully used cryptocurrency, all practical examples of cryptocurrencies rely on the much more stable Proof-of-Work system. While it's a workable concept with some nice upsides, it has some gaping security flaws that most implementations haven't managed to convincingly fix.

They aren't that different. In a PoW system you still have a stake in it. You forget they are both based off the block chain concept. Since they aren't using the exact same data structures for different problems slightly altering the data structure makes it easier to work with for a different application. It doesn't need to be proven because it's not a fundamental shift. It's the same thing just being used slightly differently to work with a slightly different application.

No different than using a React framework vs a Vue framework. You choose the one that best suits your needs. It's essentially doing the same thing but the small differences makes their pros and cons make development easier/harder for certain things.

I suggest you read further into this, including into the history around it, these are very different implementations of the blockchain concept, one is a proven concept with a decade of use(PoW), the other has failed to ever make it past experimental stages of very small altcoins despite some incredibly high profile efforts (Etheriums devs spent years trying to formulate a practical PoS system).

PoS sounds like a simple change in theory, but as soon as you get anywhere near implementation, the two concepts rapidly diverge, and even the practical use cases for PoS ends up wildly different, hence why even after many many years of attempts, nothing solid has came of the concept.

The implementations are not that different and rewriting an algorithm wouldn't be to difficult or even starting from scratch. All you are doing is moving the work around and changing the amount of work done for less wasted resources.

If you've managed to make a working PoS algorithm then my friends on the Ethereium dev team would love to hear about it. But yano, they spent over half a decade on the transition from PoW to PoS to only conclude it was essentially impossible to implement the then purely theoretical mechanism properly, despite being the best funded crypto team in the industry for a portion of time(This is of course due to the need to create a range of completely new auxiliary systems in order to solve/avoid the inherent security risks & problems of PoS). I'd like to see how you came to a different conclusion.

As you say blockchain software is incredibly easy to write. Here in Malta we are the blockchain capital of Europe and possibly the world in terms of money put into developing blockchain tech(And host a popular large annual summit on the developments of AI & Blockchain tech). I've been working on and then developing software with blockchains since 2012 and my dissertation relied heavily on it.

If PoS was a workable solution, PoW would not still be the basis of most crypto currencies, due to the vastly larger energy conspmption patterns of these systems. This is a big deal to national governments. (Have you not noticed how the only person to even claim to create a working & practically usable system is the concepts mysterious creator(s), despite almost a decade of high profile attempts).

I don't think we have a motherboard for every Intel generation for the past decade. Interesting idea though.

IPC is also very applications specific, so testing that would be challenging. Stock for stock, a lot of Intel's gains are from higher clocks, but there have been IPC gains along the way.

I can imagine Intels board meeting now -

Hey, So people love keeping hold of their extremely expensive motherboards for a fair few CPU generations like AMD has been letting buyers do, This sounds like a genuinely good move that has gained AMD a lot of market share, Let's not do that at all and introduce yet another different socket that will make most sane people jump ship to AMD, Great idea !

Christ... Z490 isnt even out yet and they looking to bury it next year! Intel is crazy.

Same old, same old. Intel makes a crap load of money selling chipsets and licenses. What I mean by licenses is you need one to use Intel sockets on your boards.

So every time they come up with a new socket they get paid. That is why they do it. However, they are failing to realise the landscape has changed. But then that's Intel isn't it? "Sorry we can't solder our dies for reasons" yet they did it as soon as AMD released Zen.

I wouldn't mind, but of the 490 boards I have seen they all look bum bleedingly expensive. Like, £400+. And with the core war raging on (and it will rage on more with the next Zen) you are then stuck. Which a few years ago was no problem if you bought high end. When the 5820k launched I just laughed, because my 3970x Sandy was faster (because it clocked hard). However that has now changed.

Rationing out cores on £400 boards is insane. And you need a 490 board, because if you don't you can't overclock.

Maybe it has something to do with the OEM market? god knows. Maybe it's because of said licensing and chipset fees? IDK. In the desktop (self build) it's just insanity.

I use Hwinfo to monitor CPU and GPU temps in the system tray, Works quite well, They have updates often and just added something interesting in the new beta, As far as I know they do communicate with the big companies for adding support etc... ahead of schedule -

Added preliminary support of Navi21 and Navi22.

Christ... Z490 isnt even out yet and they looking to bury it next year! Intel is crazy.

No, that's Intel being Intel and another reason (of a long list of reasons) that I jumped to Ryzen.

I also find it questionable for AMD to exclude X470/B450 owners from the 4xxx series Ryzen CPU's so I'm not advocating they're perfect in any shape or form either - 3 series boards, IMHO yeah, I'd say it was fair to exclude those beyond 3xxx series CPU's as I personally I don't feel they would be up to it anyway; certainly not in terms of memory support (they were and still are really really picky as to what they will and won't work with properly).

So it turns out that Epic Games China managed to run the Unreal Engine 5 PS5 demo on a gaming laptop and it runs better on it than it does on the "speciality hardware" of the PS5 in the released video, Imagine my surprise, High end gaming laptop outperforms console, Shocker..... :D

Having read various comments on various articles etc... apparently there's a lot of damage control happening over this and Tim Sweeney is trying to say it was actually just a video at 1440P.... running at 40FPS... etc... it's looking like Epic China weren't meant to release this info, Gotta save them Sony $$$ :yelrotflmao:

Earlier this week, Epic Games presented an amazing tech demo of Unreal Engine 5 on PS5. That demo was running at 1440p with 30fps and looked spectacular. However, that same demo can already run with 40fps on an NVIDIA RTX2080 notebook at 1440p.

This has been confirmed by Epic Games China. According to Epic Games China, the Unreal Engine 5 Tech Demo can already run faster on the PC. Not only that, but it appears that the demo does not take full advantage of PS5’s SSD. After all, an NVMe 970 SSD is more than enough to run the game with 40fps at 1440p.

Thus, a modern system with an NVMe 970 SSD and an NVIDIA RTX2080 can already outperform the unreleased PS5 in this particular tech demo. Again, and while the PS5 SSD is quite a beast, this particular demo does not push it to its limits. However, I think it’s quite obvious right now that owners of such GPUs and SSDs will be fine with next-gen games.

Unreal Engine 5 Tech Demo pushed incredible visuals, so we are really curious to see whether games will actually look as good as it did. After all, we never got close to the Agni’s Philosophy tech demo in the PS4/Xbox One era.

You can find Epic Games China’s comments about the Unreal Engine 5 Demo performance on the PC here. You can listen to Epic Games’ developer talk about the PC performance at the 53-minute point. Just to clarify, the demo they showed later on was NOT running on the PC. The developers revealed the specs and framerate when asked if they had tried to run the demo on a PC.
Here is exactly what the Epic Games developer said.

“Our goal is that the graphic quality like this demo, we want to make it run 60FPS at next-gen consoles. But now we do not reach the goal. Now it is 30FPS. Our target is 60FPS, that is also why we can not release it now. And I can assure you that we can run this demo in our notebook, in editor , not cooked, it even can 40FPS. (Afterwards someone in BBS confirmed that the device is RTX2080 and 970EVO)” Source - https://www.dsogaming.com/news/epic-games-claims-that-unreal-engine-5-tech-demo-can-run-with-40fps-on-rtx2080-notebook-at-1440p/

It's a tech demo dice on a multiplatform engine. It can be ran on a Switch it's not crazy for it to not be on just a ps5.

As far as the demo running better, well it can only run on the other platforms because it's not using the full power of the SSD. If they were maximizing the IO throughput of the ps5 system they would have had to have to reoptimize for other platforms, which is just a waste of time for them.

They still have a long way to go for further optimization of the engine as they figure out and better understand the new consoles in addition to the better libraries available to them from Sony/MS. That's why they are saying they are aiming for 60fps they just cannot right now.

Even still if right now a gpu more expensive than the entire ps5 console is only managing 10fps more, then that's kinda expected isn't it? If you spent more money from a 2070 to a 2080 you'd expect that kind of jump too.

The thing that stands out for me is that it's only 1440p 30 FPS yet fanboys genuinely think the PS5 will be capable of pumping out 8K gameplay at playable levels.

This is why I never put much stock in tech demos... Was it pretty? Yes. Does it really reveal anything? No.

I'd have thought it was common knowledge that the consoles will be more or less on par with current PC's as soon as they are out they will be a generation behind it's really nothing unexpected :D bassically midrange and that go's for both sony and ms they all want to hype things we all know how this go's, it'll move things forward at least.

They've never even marketed 8K gaming, the console just supports HDMI 2.1 and the 8K output. If someone makes up expectations, what does that matter? It's not Sony which are being dishonest.

I do think being within punching range of a 2080 mobile is pretty good, look at the price of such hardware nowadays. If the console's pricing isn't outrageous, it will be a good deal. I don't understand this animosity between PC and consoles, when they generally fill different purposes. As far as sofa gaming is concerned, best we have is Steam Big Picture and that's just completely outclassed by console operating systems.

I think anyone two halves short of a full brain are expecting this new CPU to swallow more power than the 3950X :D

If these are going to be monolithic dies like previous, then price is going just as high as the power usage since I bet yields will be lower than what AMD can manage.

Yeah figured as much when i saw Corsair went into watercooling, cheap plastics all around!

They did well with choosing Bispower for fittings and HardwareLabs for radiators as OEMs, but their blocks and pumps are just nowhere near the competition both in looks or quality.

It is strange how Corsair, who once was the benchmark in pretty much every category, started frantically cheeping out everywhere. They became Thermaltake. Cheap, blingy, crap product maker... So sad.

I must add their AIOs, PSUs, and Keyboards still rock, but those are the only designs left from the good old days. Everything new is just scheiße.

I know back in 2014 Braben was talking about landing on planets, walking around your ship, stations, other peoples ships, planets etc.

Whilst the majority of that has not made it in to the game, we have been able to land on planets for a while but I think to many people were expecting to land on Earth likes which was as far as I am aware never promised.

Hmm. I'll need to look into this later and see how this is calculated. Is that $50 million just her salary, or does it include stock options? If so, it makes sense that her pay is high, as AMD's stocks have seen huge increases since she became CEO. The deal she may have become CEO with may is worth around 20x more than before.

Asus x570 will support ALL Zen CPUs apparently in an upcoming BIOS update due to a rumoured 32MB ROM bios chip.

If you Google this you'll find a handful of news sites reporting this with assumed information in them, such as including APUs for support and an assumed 32MB ROM chip(though this one would probably be likely if rumour is true). Not very good journalism but their main source all comes from this tweet.
