Ok yall, I have no clue what's going on with my comp but it needs some serious troubleshooting.
As most are aware I pronounced my E6600 dead and have been running on a friend E6300 since early yesterday evening, until now, the same exact problems are happening as were with my E6600.
The symptoms with my E6600 started out just as random lockups during games (WoW specifically)... Then it became an instant lockup about 5-10 seconds after the game gfx had loaded every time. I then started lowering the FSB speed and it worked to an extent as it made the game stable a little while longer, but about 15 minutes down the road we were back to instant lockups. I had taken my E6600 all the way down to 250x9 and was still getting the in game lockups, and then it started locking up in Windows just surfing the net. That's when I said "Ok, this proccy is dead" and put in my buddies brand new E6300. That has been working 100% fine until earlier this morning I experienced my first random lockup, and they have gotten worse since. Since the first lockup I'm now all the way back down the list to random Windows lockups while surfing the net @ stock speed and voltages. I never once touched the CPU voltage or FSB speeds on this E6300 so it's definately not because of overvolting (which was my first thought on the E6600 for cause of death).
What's going on here??? Why can I throw in a new proc and it works for one night and then starts acting up again? I've reinstalled my vid drivers, done virus scans and spyware scane, defragged my hd, and nothing seems to be working. Now when it was crashing before I was getting nv_display BSOD's so I was starting to think that it was the vid card crashing the comp, but what would that have to do with me changing out processors and then having it work fine again?
I just don't get it. Give me some ideas to try so that I can get this narrowed down and nipped in the bud ASAP.
Thx in advance!
