Game specific overclocking? Yes please!

Also, shader catching. That's something that Nvidia already has, right? It sounds useful.

Really digging the new look. Makes me think of Nvidia's GeForce Experience software. I also think 'Radeon Software' sounds a lot better than 'Catalyst' too imo. Well-written, detailed article too! Nice work dude :)

I don't really get what the game specific overclocking could be useful for...

Some games just aren't stable at the same clocks, I know in Arma II I can't go past on 1450 on my 980 but can go as far as 1505 on The Witcher 3, whether that is significant in regards to framerate is another story but maybe in some title it could be, It's certainly a nice quality of life change IMO but for many users who like to tinker like most on this forum it is maybe not so useful.

I also look forward to seeing if it is anything like the software overclocking on modern day mobo's i.e. unnecessarily high voltage/lower overall clocks then when manually tuned and tweaked

Does this mean that nVidiots can no longer use the nonsensical "but GeForce Experience" argument? :D

Surely the fact that GeForce Experience locks down all control panel settings with recent drivers is a good enough reason to discard that argument. Unless you like having SLI permanently disabled.

If the OC feature is good enough I'd rather use that to manually set OC for every game than use just 5 profiles provided by something like the MSI Afterburner. As previously said, not all games are stable at all OC settings.

Like the new look!.

I'm wondering if this is why the Fury range has been locked down so this could go hand in hand with it?

actually this is incredibly useful for those games who have problems with say 1150Mhz OCs but run perfectly fine at 1140Mhz, it's not incredibly common, but I've ran into it several times myself, specifically with Guild Wars 2 and GTA V. You could also have it set to tone down your OC if you're playing less demanding games and just wanted to go easier on your hardware - having it all automated is a great convenience.

I assume this will be coming along with the new "Omega Driver" at the end of the year? If that is what they still aim to call it. Pretty excited for the game specific OC'ing too:)

My last AMD/ATI card was the 4870 so the Catalyst drivers are a dim and distant memory. This fresh approach from AMD (albeit copied from you know who) with a few new ideas is quite promising.

AMD, why don't you release some red anodised brushed aluminium special edition cards to go with the launch of Crimson? Hey wait, I'm a supposedly a nvIdiot, I can't be giving the competition ideas.... ;)

I don't think it was copied. They have some features Nvidia doesn't like game specific OC'ing. Only thing they tried to copy was with Raptr. Everything else they both have had for a long time tbh

Nice that it's moving away from what is, frankly, a damaged brand in 'Catalyst' although the uninspired UI design is a bit lacking... 'apply windows 10 skin' - Done.

If you're going to start calling nVidia fanbois 'nVidiots' I'm going to immediately start calling AMD fanbois 'AMDTards'.

Can we not turn this place into a penis flapping contest about the two only real options in GPU's right now lads?

I don't see the problem in having a Windows 10 themed UI, since I like aesthetic uniformity, but that might just be me :D

As for the nVidiot thing, I personally differentiate between nVidia fanboys and nVidiots. To me, an nVidiot is someone who refuses to recognise that AMD has viable offers and tries to stain AMD's reputation through sheer ignorance, whereas the regular fanboy is just someone who prefers nVidia's brand over AMD's.

I don't see any problem in preferring one thing over another, but to badmouth a brand for no good reason at all is a whole other story.

Hmmmm, if they add custom fan profiles to the ''overclocking'' side of things, it'll mean I won't have to use afterburner anymore... could be useful to use just one app instead of two.

Now if only stock for the Fury X in AUS become more plentiful and it was possible to play with the Fury (x) properly...

Game specific overclocking may not be used by many, though still a nice addition for those who will use it.

Sorry if already stated. I'm joining the conversation late.

With games that require less resources you could run lower clocks. Even under volt and under clock to save heat/noise/power.
