AMD's upcoming "Carrizo" APU has had some possible performance leaks this morning which are displaying up to twice the performance over previous generations. AMD's latest APU is based on the Excavator core and is claimed by AMD to have one of the biggest jumps in efficiency ever seen.

The alleged leak also shows we could be seeing a significant performance gain as well as seen below.

Whilst the upcoming APU's from AMD could make for a powerful yet efficient desktop computer on media centre, AMD has previously made it quite clear in the past that the Excavator chips will only be available or mobile platforms at launch.

The new mobile APU will be manufactured with the same 28nm process as Kaveri, with power consumption up to 35W for the Carrizo down to a maximum of 15W for the ultra-mobile Carrizo-L parts.

What are your thoughts on the potential qualities of the upcoming Carrizo APU from AMD? Would it be something you'd be happy to use in a media centre yourself, or maybe a full desktop build? Let us know in the comments below.

If it is as big of a jump in performance as they claim, the desktop version could be a very decent budget chip.

It would be cool if they got these desktop chips to at least be on par with I3's. If they did that it would be a very big winner I would think
